What We're All About...This low-budget DIY feature documentary seeks to continue the story of Gone Away(https://vimeo.com/41527049), while offering a glimpse into a rare subculture. Tanner Masseth and Taylor Frontier are taking their cameras on the rails, capturing the lifestyle of America's freight-train hoppers. With Gone Away and his friend Mildew as their guides, the filmmaking duo intend to explore this alien lifestyle and unearth the ideology of those involved. The two filmmakers intend to eat, sleep, and live under the exact same circumstances during the three week shoot.
The project was birthed in a classroom during Tanner and Brent's Freshman year as a short documentary assignment. Since the short was completed last May, it has garnered a positive response, prompting creators Tanner Masseth and Brent Bandemer to explore more in depth. The short film won the Audience Award and Jury Award at Columbia College Chicago's Take One Film Festival and participated in the college's Annual Big Screen Festival. Over a year after the story of Gone was conceived, this passion project is ready to evolve into a full-length feature.
However, the wheels stop turning if we don't receive some financial support from generous supporters!
What We Need & What You Get
Independently, this project is a financial impossibility. In our favor, we've purposefully set up a small, ambitious crew to keep costs low. The majority of our projected budget will be dedicated to camera and equipment rental(Canon C300), festival submissions, and traveling gear.
We also want to thank those who donate by giving them something in return. Perhaps our most distinct return is the $25 perk that will give you the opportunity to ask our subject a question of your choosing. During production, your inquiry will be channeled to Gone by the filmmakers and it will be filmed. You can influence the outcome of this project firsthand by posing interesting questions to Gone and his lifestyle. While no guarantees that said question will make the final cut of the film, it will be posted to the Facebook Page for all to see.
The cheapest perk will grant you access to the Gone Away Members Page. Throughout production, the director and cinematographer will post video journals, photos, and updates on location to the Members Facebook Page. You'll be able to follow us every step of the journey!
Other Ways You Can help
It is unrealistic to assume that everyone who supports this project has the financial means to donate. However, word-of-mouth is our best friend. If you wish us to succeed but can not assist financially, it will do wonders to have you share our projects with friends and family. Indiegogo has several sharing tools that will post directly to your preferred social networking outlet.
This project can not evolve without your influence. Get those lips moving and those fingers typing! If we do not reach our entire goal, adjustments will be made to get this film made, if possible.
