Gallevent™, The best event website. EVER.
Gallevent is the fastest, easiest, and funnest way to discover events happening around you. As soon as you land on Gallevent.com, you get a collection of events around your current location that are happening that day. You can even filter events by category or search for events by location, keywords, and date.
Categories of events are organized by colors and icons, making it easy for you to find the type of events you are interested in with just one glance. Events are collected from all over the web and delivered to you in one place, in a visually organized, map based presentation.
Gallevent’s goal is to help you quickly discover things to do, so you can get to the fun faster.
To bring you an even better event discovery experience, we’d like to develop a system to allow you to post your own events directly to Gallevent, and allow you to RSVP for events through the site. We’d also like to allow more people to access the website. These things cost money. We are reaching out to the world for people who are as excited about discovering the things that happen around them as we are, and can donate to help us make our dream of building the best event website ever come true.
Your contribution will lead to further development of a better event website for everyone! Also, as a contributor, you’ll receive an account before the rest of the world gets their hands on one. Check out the perks for our Indigogo campaign to see what other awesome things you'll get as a contributor.
Meet the team
Jessica and Andrew built Gallevent because, not too long ago, trying to figure out what sort of things were happening around you was a bit of a pain in the a**. You had to visit several different event listing websites—with each site focused on a single event type or location—and open Google maps to lookup the location of every single event you were interested in. Jessica got tired of doing this. She wanted to spend less time finding events and more time attending them. She came up with an easier way to collect and display event data and pitched her idea to her good friend Andrew. Andrew thought the idea was awesome and the rest is history.
Jessica works on Gallevent’s branding, graphic design, and front-end web development.
Andrew handles server infrastructure, back-end development, and front-end development.
Jessica and Andrew meet up in a San Francisco coffee shop every week to work on Gallevent.
What we’re looking for
We’re reaching out to the Indiegogo community to raise money to move Gallevent to cloud hosting which will allow us to give more users access to the site.
Breakdown of costs:
Hosting: $275 per month x 18 months = $4,950
Cloud backup: $5 per month x 18 months = $90
Total hosting cost for 18 months: $5,040
Other Ways You Can Help
If you love the idea of discovering all the fun stuff going on around you, but can’t donate at this time, you can show your support by sharing this Indiegogo campaign with your friends. Tweet it, Facebook it, Pin it on Pinterest, Google + it, or shout it from your rooftop! Every little post helps and we are truly appreciative of it.
You can also high five us on Highlight or cheer us on online (or in person, if you are in San Francisco) for moral support. It would put a smile on our faces :)
