Short Summary:
Girl-to-Girl is a reality web series that follows the daily lives and interactions of eight young, up-and-coming, lesbians as they spend a summer living together in The G2G House. The goal of this project is to enhance the very limited world of gay and lesbian media. While entertainment is our medium, the true purpose of Girl-to-Girl is to provide GLBTQ youth with content that is relatable and realistic. We hope to provide said youth with a sense of community that we lacked growing up and coming out.
What We Need & What You Get
With this project, we had a choice to stay small, and we decided to go big or go home. This isn't going to be a slapped together project with a handy cam filmed in our spare time. We want to contribute something meaningful to the media that young lesbians can look at and say, "wow, I can relate to that." So we're aiming high. Our goal of $100,000 sounds lofty, but it will go to cover living expenses for our 8 girls (the lovely talent), a real, professional, crew that's dedicated to making an amazing show, cool challenges and outings for the whole house to do and all the gear, lisencing, and random logistical costs that go into making a show happen.
Overall, we expect to produce between 50 and 100 hours of content between the episodes, weekly vlogs from each of the girls, and the special features, so we intend to stretch that $100,000 quite far. However, we need to raise all of the money, or the project is a no-go. For this first round of fund raising, we hope to generate at least half the budget, or $50,000. That's the money we need to raise to know that this project has wings, and we believe it does. We have some special plans for raising the next half - but you'll have to stay tuned for that!
If we don't reach at least $50,000, we're not going to be able to move forward with the project and all donations will be refunded. Right idea, wrong time. So let your voice be heard! $500 - In addition to all the previous perks, you will have special video chat session with the G2G cast during the filming of the show.
$750 - In addition to all the previous perks, you will be contacted by the producer to help design one of the special outings/challenges the girls will do on the show.
$1,000 - You will be invited to attend a private, complementary, lunch with the cast and producer of Girl-to-Girl in Los Angeles, California during Summer 2013. Lunch provided, transportation not included!
The Impact
Young girls just coming into their own need role-models. They need big sisters, they need romance, they need girls they can confide in and they need someone to help them feel safe against the often harsh realities of growing up. Young lesbians often lack one or more of those support networks. Girl-to-Girl seeks to give lesbian youth a touch-stone of hope and companionship. Yeah, there's gonna be drama and silly business, but that's all part of growing up and growing into who you are. This project is unique in that it gives these 8 women a chance to give younger girls the things they would have loved to have access to growing up.
Girl-to-Girl aims to help young lesbians find out how to connect into their own communities, families, schools and work places. By following the lives of 8 girls who have already had their fair share of the road less traveled, Girl-to-Girl offers a unique and vital insight for girls who might otherwise be walking their own path completely alone.
