WHO WE ARE:
The Gift of Gab is a San Francisco Bay Area MC. He is one half of the group, Blackalicious, one fifth of the label/collective, Quannum Projects, one third of the supergroup The Mighty Underdogs as well as a solo artist.
His brand new album, NEXT LOGICAL PROGRESSION, is coming in 2012 and features a song titled "Everything Is Fine" featuring Latyrx (Lyrics Born & Lateef the Truthspeaker) and the one-and-only George Clinton.
The song is produced by G Koop.
As the first single off of his new album, a long-form music video for "Everything Is Fine" is in production to be released later this year. The music video treatment was written by G Koop and video director, Justin Berger of HKL Films.
WHAT THE VIDEO IS ABOUT:
Meanwhile at a secret location, an unknown character watches these events unfold and notifies a James Bond/secret agent type (G Koop) who is sent to break them out.
The video will be very cinematic and follow a specific storyline leading to a final confrontation at the end between all of these characters. The video will also include dialogue and story elements beyond just the music.
WHY WE'RE HERE:With the amazing connectivity of the internet we've been able to see first hand the power of the direct interaction between artists and fans. It's eliminated the middle-man allowing artists and fans to interact on a level that has been, up until recently, non-existent.
We wanted to get the fans involved in this project and make something together that was the result of that interaction and connectivity.
IndieGoGo allows for a unique collaboration that gives the artist not only the freedom to express and create without restrictions, but also gives the fans a chance to be directly involved in the process, ultimately resulting in a better production.
WHAT YOU GET:
We have some great perks for those contributing including autographed CDs, lunch with Gift of Gab, cameos in the video itself and more!
A very special perk for those contributing $500 or more is an original 16-bar verse from The Gift of Gab for use on their own project.
This a very exclusive opportunity for any up and coming indie artists who have always wanted to have one of the most well-renowned rappers in the world on one of their songs for a great price.
We will also be listing everyone who contributes in the credits of the video.
OUR GOAL:Our goal is to raise $12,000 for this project.
This money will go directly to the budget and cover all expenses including equipment rental, paying our cast and crew, location fees, special effects, makeup, lighting, sound, editing, post production, travel expenses, etc etc.
OTHERS WAY TO HELP:
If you just can't afford to contribute to the project, or you don't feel this is up your alley, the least we ask is that you please spread the word around about this campaign and let others know about it.
Post the link on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Google +, Digg and anywhere else you can.
Thanks for taking the time to check us out!
