Our campaign has closed, but you can still support the world premiere of FIRST by sending a tax- deductible check to PlayGround, 3286 Adeline Street, #8, Berkeley, CA 94703-2485, with FIRST in the memo line. And, of course, we'll see you at the world premiere.
Due to a number of different factors, including our goal to ensure FIRST reaches the largest possible audience, we have rescheduled the world premiere production for October 2013.
World premiere dates are October 10 through November 3, 2013.
Venue: Stage Werx in San Francisco's Inner Mission. 446 Valencia between 15th and 16th Streets, a half-block from 16th Street BART.

We very much appreciate your wonderful support for the world premiere of FIRST and look forward to sharing more news with you soon.
The date is March 26, 1976. It's the day of the very first personal computer convention and all the major players of the budding industry are there. Two hours before he's due to take the stage, twenty-year old Bill Gates is in the coffee shop of the convention center sweating over his lines.
He knows that what he's about to say will change the course of the computer industry. He knows that what he's about to say will make him more enemies than he has ever known. He knows he has to give the speech of his life.
Into this incredible moment in history marches Luz Ruiz. Luz is twenty-five years old, ran away from home when she was fifteen, and works as a waitress in the coffee shop. He sees the future in terms of infinity, she sees no further than the end of the day. Two more different people it's impossible to imagine, yet they meet, connect, and change each others' world like no one had done before.
THIS MOMENT, THIS PLAY
The Digital Age has been the great revolution of our time, and through the lens of the personal computer " FIRST" gives us a chance to explore this moment and ourselves. This is a play of our time.
FIRST was commissioned and developed by PlayGround (James A. Kleinmann, Artistic Director,) and given a staged reading at the Best Of PlayGround Festival in May of 2012. Michael French directs the World Premiere in San Francisco this summer.
WHY WE NEED YOU
Put simply, your generous contributions will allow us to tell this incredible story.
For our first full production of FIRST with a four-week run in Fall 2013.
We have support from the PlayGround New Play Production Fund and private donations.
Now we need YOU to help us pay the many extremely talented artists and technicians that will make a full production a reality. The $5000 from the Indiegogo campaign will go a long, long way to us achieving that goal.
Every penny of our funding goal will go directly into the production. If our dream becomes a reality the world premiere will be just the first step in the journey of the play. We have plans to take FIRST to Los Angeles and eventually to New York.
10% of all online contributions above our funding goal will be donated to the Community Technology Network of the San Francisco Bay Area, which unites organizations that serve seniors, at-risk youth, and low income families with volunteers to transform lives through digital literacy. A successful Indiegogo campaign will help bring to the stage the World Premier of FIRST in fall 2013. It doesn’t get anymore essential that that.
