Fighting for Tucker!
Tucker has cystic fibrosis--and a lot of living to do! He's just 24 years old, and has had a rough year with long hospital stays, and tough decisions ahead. Tucker's lungs are damaged from the thick mucus that CF's defective gene creates and builds up, creating rich environments for chronic infections.
Cystic Fibrosis takes your breath away--literally.
Like many CF patients who are living into adulthood, Tucker has had insurance nightmares. It's tough to have full-time work with benefits when you spend large chunks of time in the hospital, and Medicaid hasn't quite caught on that CF patients are living longer, and need appropirate coverage.
In the 1950's, CF patients were not expected to live to start kindergarten.
Today, young adults with CF are doing amazing things--surfing, running, holding babies up in air! Carving pumpkins! Living. Breathing. Waitiing for a cure.
There are only 30,000 people in the United States with Cystic Fibrosis.
But if you know even one of those people, you know that 30.000 is way too many.
Until a cure can be found (and the folks at www.cff.org are working so hard to make that happen), the best we can do is support full living. And Tucker needs our help to do that NOW.
He is home from the hospital, and needs several prescription drugs to keep his lungs clear. He's fighting for insurance coverage. but needs some short term support.
Your donation will provide Tucker the air that he needs to see him through this tough spot. You can donate via PayPal, which will go to Tucker's family immediately, or you can donate via Credit Card, and the funds will be dispersed at the end of this campaign (Tucker's 25th birthday, February 24th, 2013).
From all of us who know and love Tucker, thank you is not enough.
