Families in Transition is a nonprofit organization that helps families in Santa Cruz County who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, with temporary rental assistance and case management. Homeless children have more health problems and do worse in school than children in stable homes. For over 20 years Families in Transition has been helping to get and keep families with children off the streets. We don't just help families by giving them rental assistance, we also have case managers who work with clients on setting goals such as job searching, finding a place that they can realistically afford to keep without assistance or whatever else we feel will help them become more stable.Many families that we help are living in cars, sleeping in campgrounds, or living in shelters. Our goal is to find these families suitable housing for them and their children.
Unfortunately, due to the bad economy, we aren't receiving much funding at the moment. So we are asking the community which we have been helping for so long, to please help us and donate what you can. Even if you can't afford much, every dollar makes a difference. You will be making a huge difference in someone's life and an investment in your community. You may even save a life.
