My name is Maury van Loon, 20 years, proudly Dutch and I'm currently a second year music student at Plymouth University.
I have always been drawn to music, especially piano, but we never could afford any instruments or lessons. So I started working and saving up and when I was 14 I bought my first electric guitar. That's when the party started. With some friends I started a band called 'Jellyfish Invasion' and it was great (seriously: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GprazlolZLo). Unfortunately we broke up after two years due to people starting university. In this period I decided I wanted to do a music course after I graduated and finally saved enough money to buy a stage piano and piano lessons. After Jellyfish Invasion I founded with three others a Muse cover band called 'Sphinx'. Muse still is a big inspiration for me and it helped me a lot gaining more knowledge about how music works. During my time in Sphinx I also composed my first song 'En de Ruimte Dooft Uit..' https://soundcloud.com/fallmusic/en-de-ruimte-dooft-uit. This was a ground breaking moment in my musical life, with this I participated in a regional competition called 'Kunstbende' and won second price! This was the right sign at the right moment, I've always felt different (not entirely in place, misunderstood) and I was very insecure about my style and my musical skills. But this was the big push I needed, which gave birth to Fall~ in 2011.
Since the start of Fall~ I found what I really wanted to do: composing for films. I participated in the Popsport project which gave me the opportunity to get a band together to play my work live and we recorded Reset the World in the studio. At the end of this year (2012) I left Sphinx and moved to England to study music in Plymouth and that brings me where I am now.
Alongside with my music, my artwork grew. Before music I was a driven artist, but for a few years it felt like music had replaced art. They were both forms to express my feelings, but in Fall~ they connected and now they work hand in hand. Music is my way to express, art my way to process. I can't live without either of them.
This campaign is very important to me because it feels like finally recording some of my work is the next big step I should take. My dream is to compose for film, but at the same time perform my music live. But unfortunately it's too expensive to finance completely by myself, also since studying abroad is very expensive. I hope I'll be able to get more gigs and jobs through this EP, but most importantly to have my music how it should sound and be able to share it with the world (there's only so much I can do with Logic). I'm very much looking forward to this project and I hope you are too!
The funding will be used to pay for the recording studio, the printing of the EP and the traveling expenses for the musicians helping me out.
In case you can't contribute, it'll still mean a lot to let the world know about my music and my campaign! I appreciate every tiny bit of help you offer!

Thank you very much for your time and help, I hope we'll be able to reach this goal together!
