JAMIE PITT & ANNA WHEELER
Based in St. John’s, Little Scout Films is a fresh film collective consisting of founding members Anna Wheeler and Jamie Pitt. Originally, Jamie and Anna came together with a vision to create a cooperative of young local writers and performers, and to produce satirical sketches based on events and characters in the province. Nurtured by Newfoundland and Labrador’s brash tradition of political satire (CODCO, The Dance Party of Newfoundland etc.), Little Scout Films strives to create hilarious and poignant performance pieces on film and on stage.
Jamie is a soon-to-be Memorial University B.A. graduate in Honours English and Gender Studies and Anna is a recent grad from Ryerson University's Acting program. Anna enjoys guessing dog breeds, oiled olives, puffin mittens and autoharps. Jamie tends to like Oscar Wilde, secret swimming holes, Montmartre, and a good cheese ball.
The film is the tale of two teenage girls and their journey of revenge on the high school bully. Drawn from personal experiences while attending high school in downtown St. John’s, the story explores themes of bullying, belonging, and the perils of high school, all woven together in a bizarre and witty 22-minute script. The film’s soundtrack will feature St. John’s pop sensation The Gramercy Riffs, winners of the Atlantis 2010 Music Prize. With each Little Scout Films venture, the goal is to keep the characters and stories, as well as cast and crew, ‘freshly local’.
