Short Summary:

Escape is a dramatic action thriller about a young heroine fighting to save a little girl's innocence, in turn losing her own.

The Folks:

Director:

Escape is a short film by writer/director John Wynn, whose previous work includes “Pillow Talk” (New York International Film Festival Best Director and Best Action Short awards, HollyShorts Film Festival audience choice and honorable mention, Indie Fest best short film, and is now airing on ShortsHD on DirectTV and ATT&T Uverse), “Screwed” (feature film with a 2013 release), and "Beyond The Mat" which has just finished post production and is setting up distribution. As the founder of One Lung Productions, he also produced and directed the documentary STILL STANDING and developed the pilot FORTUNE COOKIES, which was optioned by CBS. John just finished producing the Indie Film "Cavemen". You can see some of his work here: http://www.punchingbees.com/ and https://vimeo.com/punchingbees/johnwynndirector

Producer and Lead Actor:

Bonnie Bower is an Indiana transplant to Los Angeles. She grew up in the theater, starting as early as 5 years old along side her sister Caroline in the Wabash County talent show. After those oscar worthy performances, Bonnie had her continued youth training and experiences to thank for her path to a degree in Music Theatre at Elon University in North Carolina. She was blessed with amazing teachers and AMAZING friends throughout those four years that shaped who she is and encouraged her to pursue what became her path to LA. During her college years, Bonnie discovered that “acting” is a simple, yet complex expression of human interactions. She found the most pleasure in playing the roles that were far from her reality, which led to the creation of this script.

What We Need

John could shoot, light, star and edit a complete project in about two days without food or sleep (...no, I promise he has never done that before...never), but in order to make this project the best it can possibly be AND allow John to live till he's at least 35, we need help.

The main reason we decided to raise funds for this project is for equipment rentals. We have the camera, but there are many additional lenses, lights, etc. necessary to make this project look exquisite and you would be dang surprised at the cost in renting something that looks like an over sized contact lense.

We also need extra skilled hands on deck. This project requires a very small crew, but still a crew. Crews don't work for free. Because they know we need them. And we do.

Developing and Creating an Indie film usually invloves the hope of it going to festivals. Film festivals are an amazing opportunity for young (and old) filmmakers to share in the creative process, possibly get picked up for distribution (like John's last short film), and high five each other on making studio quality product for next to nothing. After the actual shoot, and post production process, we would like to have the means to enter our film into said festivals. Most known festivals have an application fee to even be considered. We have factored that into the budget as well.

Escape is a collaboration of passion. It can only happen with your help. We are lucky to have amazing support in our endeavor to make art from friends, colleagues, and above all our families. Whatever bit you are able to give will make an amazing project possible. It's a strange feeling to reach out your hand to the people in your life and say “donation please”, but we assure you that it is for the good of the art which is indie filmaking and is deeply, deeply, the deepest of deeply appreciated.
