Endless Heroes is an upcoming, free to play Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game created by the community, for the community. Developer made heroes will be available at launch, but our plan with the future heroes is to have them be designed, created and inspired by the players themselves!
Players who submit content that is chosen to feature in Endless Heroes will be entitled to a percentage of sales, and will be directly credited on the heroes profile page. Yes, that means that you can make money with this game, similar to the player created items featured in Dota 2. We know that MOBA's can be very hard to learn, and are often frustrating when it comes to players being poorly matched in matchmaking.
With Endless Heroes, we hope to remove much of the negativity towards competitive matchmaking games such as these by making our MOBA easy to learn and fun to play, by focusing on creating smooth learning curves with each hero.
In the deepest reaches of space, something has awoken. Something that will end all life as we know it. It has begun its march on the universe, making entire planets and solar systems around the outer edges of the universe disappear.
But all is not lost. At the center of the universe, a planet known as Satus prospers. Home to the Anima, a race of ancient, ethereal beings have awoken. They exist for the sole purpose of discovering a group of warriors worthy to inherit their god like powers and defeat the all-devouring foe. To that end, they have assembled the greatest, most powerful, most deadly warriors from across the farthest reaches of the galaxy, individuals of every race imaginable.
But before these gathered heroes claim the supremacy, there will be a series of challenges held to determine their worth. Should they prove themselves as true warriors, they will meet on the Fields of the Anima in battle, a contest to determine who among them would be the mightiest group of heroes, the ones most worthy of becoming champions of the universe against the darkness that threatens to purge all of existence.
Time is short. The assembly of endless heroes must determine who will inherit the power of the Anima, as more and more planets continue to be lost to the darkness. Who will rise to the call and prove themselves worthy of this ultimate power? That is for you to decide.
Unlike other current MOBA's, Endless Heroes plans to heavily feature Heroes designed by the players. This is done by having the player accumulate tokens, and spending them to submit their creations. A player submits a hero that they designed, along with whatever details they feel will make their hero unique, and any concept art they might have.
These creations are then put through a series of tests called 'checkpoints'. These checkpoints will help our design team filter through the submissions quickly and efficiently, determining which ideas hold the most merit. Once a small pool has been decided on, the community at large will have the opportunity to vote on specific heroes.
Once a winner has been decided, the design team will then work with the player who created the hero in implementing their creation, beginning the fine tuning process required to get a champion from concept to ready to play.
Above is a simple mock up of what the user creation section will look like. Your Endless Heroes account will act as a log-in on both the game and the website.
Every character in Endless Heroes will have its own unique sound track associated with it. We believe this will be a nice addition to the Heroes when the player is searching through them in the store, or when they log into the new patch (when we release updates for the game). Below are two music scores created by our sound producer exclusively for Endless Heroes.
We believe music plays a very important role in video games. To show this to our fans, we have implemented really cool in-game features that incorporate music such as having a heroes specific music score played when they get a large multi kill.
"When we designed our stat system, we had two main goals. The first was to make it readily understandable. That's key for several obvious reasons, but for us, it was especially important, since we want so much of our game to be player generated. That was the second goal. It had to be a system that worked for as many character designs as possible, while still being an efficient, broad enough set of stats to work for all of them." - Jesse Jordan
Health Points: Having a health system is standard. That being said, we're excited to see some non-standard variations on the classic 'HP' bar that the players can imagine.
[Secondary Resource]: This resource is usually variable in MOBAs, and we really saw no reason to fight that. Don't fix what's not broken! Examples: Mana, Pressure, Charge, Flux, Fury, Rage, Steam.
Power: The physical damage and 'auto-attack' determinant. We used the term 'power' because it feels paradoxically accurate and vague at the same time.
Might: We chose 'might' here for the same reason we chose 'power'. Its a term that feels natural, and readily lends itself to a broad range of things. Magical might, technological might, biological might... We think it works nicely, and we hope you'll agree.
Armor: This is very standard in MOBAs, and frankly, we didn't see a reason to change it. Armor blocks against power.
Resistance: We did not add any adjectives associated with our secondary resource defense stat, specifically because we want to encourage creativity. Resistance blocks against might.
Dexterity: The attack speed and/or capture rate indicator. Again, a very broad feeling natural term.
Movement: The movement speed of the hero. Pretty straight forward.
Attack Range: The attack range of the hero. Again, pretty straight forward, but we're still keeping our eyes peeled for unique designs.
While most of the heroes will be created by the player, our development team will also be working on a hero creation pipeline, which will help insure that there is always a balance when it comes to the types, strengths, and variety of heroes available to chose from. We don't want to reveal too much at this time, but here are a few heroes you should be expect to see in the game. Please remember as with all games, MOBAs especially, every thing you see below is subject to change.
Born on the outer rim planet of Kalv, Tyrus has worked the scrap fields since he was old enough to walk. Over the years, Tyrus' keen eye for salvage and impressive metal working skills led him to being promoted to foreman, a position that put him in charge of the distribution of scrapped materials all across Kalv, and being granted access to one of the few functioning star ships on the planet, to be used primarily to scuttle orbiting crafts.
During a routine orbital salvage mission, Tyrus was shocked to see an inner rim craft hurtling towards him from the direction of the edge of the galaxy. The ship answered no hails, and didn't alter its course in the slightest, even as it collided with orbiting junk ships. Finally, it's engines became too damaged to continue, and the ship began to float freely just outside of Kalv's orbit. Concerned about potential survivors, Tyrus boarded the vessel, but found it empty. A hologram warning recorded by the previous captain warned Tyrus of the onslaught of the Devourers, mindless drones who consumed entire planets and left replicated twisted duplicates of the originals. The message told Tyrus in no uncertain terms that the Devourers were coming, and that nothing, not Kalv, not an army, would stand in their way.
Tyrus repaired the craft, and landed it in Kalv's main city center, Rachetta, and hastily spread the news to anyone who cared to listen, and announced his plan to fly to the inner worlds and warn them of the danger. Leena, his second in command, volunteered to join him. Together, they set off towards the inner worlds, not knowing that fate would intervene.
En route, their ship was engulfed in an ion storm of unknown origin, and Tyrus feared that they would be lost. Unbeknownst to both Tyrus and Leena, the storm had been sent by the Anima, mystical guardians of the universe who dwelled at the center of the galaxy. The storm transported Tyrus and Leena, along with their ship, directly to Satus, where the Anima offered them a chance to fight on equal ground against the Devourers as their only chance to protect their world, and the universe as a whole. With grim determination, Tyrus scrapped the ship, and forged himself a deadly and powerful suit of armor.
Cracking his knuckles eagerly, Tyrus readies himself to step onto the Fields of the Anima and crush the Devourers under his iron fists.
Leena's ancestors were some of the first settlers on the planet Kalv, and her family has been in key positions on the scrap fields ever since. While her family expected her to petition to become foreman of Kalv, a position that's been held by the Jonsdotter family for centuries, they were surprised when she chose to become an orbit mechanic instead, specializing in assembling and disassembling crafts in a zero gravity environment.
Her natural grace and poise led to a series of rapid promotions, until she answered to none but Tyrus, the current foreman of Kalv. Back on the planets surface, she discovered that her love of working in a gravity free environment led to her developing other interests, such as building custom hovercrafts and boards from the ample amounts of scrap on Kalv's surface.
As time passed, Leena's penchant for 'toying' with gravity led to her creating her signature tools - A pair of electromagnetic discs that displace gravity - which she trained herself to use with deadly efficiency, both on the job and off. Her signature tools would go on to become signature weapons.
Leena was in orbit with Tyrus when the mystery inner rim craft appeared from the outskirts of space, and stood beside him as they watched the horrific report of the Devourers, an army of all-consuming terrors who stalked space, consuming everything in their path and spitting out twisted replacements in their path in an effort to reforge the universe in their image. Once they gave the order for the citizens of Kalv to prepare themselves or evacuate, the pair set off to warn the inner worlds. They wouldn't make it far before an ion storm, sent by the Anima, would transport them directly to Satus, a planet at the center of the galaxy.
Tasked with standing against the Devourers in a fight for the fate of universe, Leena steps onto the Fields of the Anima with her favorite tools, ready to shred anything in her path.
