As a national non-partisan grassroots organization, our mission is to end inequality for women without regard to gender, race, ethnicity, socio-economic class, marital status, age, sexual orientation, disability or national origin. We will accomplish this by providing voter education and facilitating the mobilization of a nationwide voice, through our membership, to protect and advance women's rights.
UniteWomen WA would like to interact with voters at the many summer festivals that happen around Washington State. Our next event will be SpokanePride where our handouts will highlight the Violence Against Women Act, why the House version (supported by Spokane Rep.McMorrisRodgers) is unacceptable for leaving out protections for LGBTQ and immigrants, and educate people on how to volunteer or donate to Women's Shelters.
We need to cover the cost of printing and table fees, as well as some fun and creative handouts to really get people's attention. It is our goal to raise awareness about the impact of violence and discrimination and give voters and activists ways to get involved.
UniteWomen WA intends to impact the coming elections and build the foundation for a long-term movement. We will get more women (and men!) involved in building equality and show both our state and federal government that we will not stand to be ignored or treated like second-class citizens. We will create unity between all the causes that affect women.
