Our Story
Dun-Well Doughnuts started as a food craving when Christopher Hollowell (the "Well" in Dun-Well) called up his buddy Dan Dunbar (The "Dun" in Dun-Well) after having watched a Simpson's anniversary episode that featured Homer's favorite round confections rather prominently. Having been unable to find a vegan doughnut in NYC that satisfied his craving Christopher and Dan agreed to make their quest to create an amazing doughnut and open NYC's first all-vegan doughnut shop.
But Christopher and Dan's journey began long before ruminations of doughnuts. They met while in College in Ithaca New York, where they developed a passion for vegan cooking, and where ultimately the seed to create a compassionate business was planted. The two have traveled across the country by bicycle twice and toured around the world to raise money for affordable housing. Their bond has been formed both through friendship and survival.
Our Mission Statement:
Our Mission is to be the premiere vegan doughnut shop on planet Earth and reverently carry on
the tradition of doughnut making in a manner that is both innovative and ethical.
The Impact
Dun-Well Doughnuts WILL launch it's full time shop. We are focused on developing our kitchen space and maintaining wholesale deliveries. What we need is help in creating a storefront space that will be suitable for customers to come in and get our doughnuts when they are the freshest they'll ever be. Having a storefront will bring yet another vegan food haven to our city, and create a space where more and more people can make the connection, that caring about animals and sacrificing taste buds are not mutually exclusive. At Dun-Well Doughnuts you can have your doughnut and eat it too!
What We Need & What You Get
We have the space, but we need help making the storefront customer ready. In addition to floors, ceiling, walls, chairs, tables, counters, and lights, we are going to need the money to invest in display racks, a cash register, coffee equipment, a refrigeration unit, and an ice-cream bar (yes, we'll have ice-cream! delicious, vegan ice-cream!) In the even that our funding goals are not met, we will maintain our wholesale business and raise the funding over time, but our fear is that without storefront sales, wholesale might not be enough to carry our business through. Our location is wonderful and convenient, and it would be our pleasure and honor to offer fresh doughnuts to walk in customers. Thank you so, so much for helping us and giving us the chance to do this.
