Hi DrinkSavvy friends and supporters! We apologize for going so long without an update, but in an attempt to limit the amount of emails sent to your inbox, we have been hesitant to provide updates until there was something to update about. However, some of you have specifically asked, so here it is! :)
First, out of over 1200 applicants, DrinkSavvy has made it to the second round of the MassChallenge (a startup accelerator contest) along with 300 other startups. We presented an in-person pitch to a panel of judges last week, and we will find out tomorrow if we have made it to the next round of 125 startups. If we win, we could win as much as $100,000 to help bring DrinkSavvy to market! Wish us luck!
Second, I just got off of a conference call with co-inventor Dr. John MacDonald and his colleague at Worcester Polytechnic Institute Dr. Christopher R. Lambert. The call went very well and we are very close to penning a deal with WPI to begin a 10 week test run on a promising embodiment of the DrinkSavvy indicator material. If all goes well (fingers crossed, knock on wood, etc.), we should be on target to provide you with your cups/straws by the promised deadline (give or take a month or so). We will know much more at the end of the 10 week test run.

Hi DrinkSavvy friends and supporters! Time for an update about where we are at in our prototyping progress. First, thank you all once again for your support and for believing in us and our mission.
We are currently in discussions with Worcester Polytechnic Institute regarding “Industry Sponsored Research” to help us with the prototyping phase. Discussions are slower than we would have thought, but we are still confident about our timelines. We are simultaneously in touch with Contract Researching Organizations should discussions with WPI fall through.
Also, DrinkSavvy has been invited to present our products and company at the next Tech Advisers Network (TAN) Presentation Event scheduled for Wednesday, February 27, 2013! Only 4-5 companies are chosen each year!
The TAN is an initiative that has developed over the past year and is comprised of a group of about forty WPI alumni and friends, who are also successful serial entrepreneurs. The TAN Advisers provide advising and networking to internal and external resources for the innovators and entrepreneurs who are engaged in applied research, tech transfer and start-up activities on campus or that are affiliated with WPI in some way. We are very excited and honored to have been selected!

We did it! Of course, “we” means every single person that either contributed or helped to spread the word about our campaign so that others could contribute. DrinkSavvy could not be more proud and excited, and we thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts for believing in us and our products.
