Why are we raising funds?
Help support the new 400m Canadian champion, Alicia Brown, as she chases the world B standard for the IAAF World Track and Field Championships in Moscow, Russia this August! First stop: World University Games (FISU) in Kazan, Russia this July.
Alicia works extremely hard to perfect her performance on the track. Training to be a high performance athlete requires intense focus, dedication, commitment and resources. Alongside putting in hours at the track, Alicia spends significant time in the weight room, and in the clinic optimizing recovery.
In order to help Alicia stay focused on her goals, we are raising funds to help alleviate the financial burdens of daily living, training, and competition expenses. The life of an amateur athlete is far from glamorous and every contribution is greatly appreciated. Together, we can help Alicia chase her dreams, one contribution at a time.

Why Alicia needs your help?
Your contributions will aid in the following ways:
- Living and travel expenses (transportation, accommodation, food etc.)
- Competition expenses (entry fees)
- Equipment (running shoes, spikes, compression gear, training wear etc.)
- Nutrition and Recovery (Vitamins and supplements, physiotherapy, massage therapy and chiropractic care etc.)
- Coaching expenses
Alicia’s meet schedule depends greatly on the funds that are raised over the next few weeks. More often than not, in track and field, the athlete must seek out competitive opportunities; it is rare for the race to come to the athlete. With hopes of achieving world B standard (52.35) Alicia needs to take advantage of the most competitive opportunities available as we are on the clock! The deadline to achieve standard is July 29, 2013.
Dependent on funding, Alicia will compete at the following competitions:
July 7-8-9 - World University Games - Kazan, Russia
July 20-21 - Athletics Ontario Championship - Toronto, ON
July 27 - 23ste Memorial Geert RASSCHAERT - Ninove, Belgium
List of accomplishments:
- 400m Canadian champion (2013)
- National team member
- 3 CIS and 3 OUA gold medals (2013)
- 4x200 and 4x400 OUA and CIS record holder
- OUA female track MVP (2013)
- University of Toronto female athlete of the year (2013)
- Personal best of 52.92 seconds ran in Moncton, NB at the Canadian Track and Field Championships (2013)
