DO ME A LITTLE

The world premiere of this new, hilarious and exciting play by playwright Marissa Kohn will premiere at the New York International Fringe Festival this August.

Short Summary

My name is Marissa Lee Kohn. I'm a recovering Mormon from Layton, Utah.  I'm a writer/comedian/actress who lives in New York with my husband Nicholas.

My play, "Do Me A Little", is inspired by real events. I was engaged to guy who was gay-but-never-acted-on-it. Luckily we broke it off before the wedding, but I always thought, "what would have happened on our wedding night?" It started off as a journal entry and grew into the play I have now that will be premiering at the New York International Fringe Festival.

We've been describing the show as such: "Brigham and Mandy, two wide-eyed, newlywed Mormon virgins, are celebrating their wedding night in the unintentionally kinky pirate suite at the 'World Famous (in Utah)' Honeymoon House. But a massive secret is about to… uh… come out that will shatter the religious rose-colored glasses they’ve both worn for their entire lives. Is their relationship a total lie? Will they stay married just to retain their status in a potentially bogus religion? Will they show you their magic Mormon underwear? Find out this August at FringeNYC!"

I've never put on a play before, and it takes a lot of money! Here are the expenses we've paid out of pocket so far:

$675 Fringe Application Registration Fee
$250 to create an LLC
$150 insurance
$675 postcard mailing (gulp)
$230 Wedding Dress

It all adds up, and we haven't even paid our actors, directors or designers or bought any scenery yet. The money you donate will help immensely.

We're looking to raise about $6000 goes to production costs only: to pay for all the above items, pay the folks listed above, as well as that scenery, pay for the website, taxes, programs, lighting gels and some sound equipment.

And while we're looking to raise $6000, like anyone - we're not going to say "NO!" if we raise more! (And there are perks! See the sidebar!) We're looking to make a splash with this initial production and get some attention, so the more money we have, the more polished and professional it can be, hopefully garnering us some good notices and helping the show have a future beyond FringeNYC!

Every little bit helps and is BEYOND appreciated.
