About the Film
Digital Dharma uncovers E. Gene Smith's 50-year journey with renowned scholars, lamas and laypeople as they struggle to find, preserve and digitize more than 20,000 volumes of ancient Tibetan text. Crossing multiple borders – geographic, political and philosophical – Digital Dharma is an epic story of a cultural rescue and how one man’s mission became the catalyst for an international movement to provide free access to the story of a people.

Your Help is Needed for the Journey to Continue
Your support has been instrumental in bringing the feature Documentary on E. Gene Smith, Digital Dharma, to the final stretch. The feature film has just finished its Theatrical run with Docuweeks and is starting to be picked up by Film Festivals around the world.
We've just signed a worldwide distribution deal for both the Digital Dharma feature and a 52-minute broadcast cut of the film.
We need your support to fund the completion of the 52-minute broadcast version and for the Marketing and Outreach of this epic film.
Global distribution means we could have the opportunity to share the remarkable story of E. Gene Smith’s preservation and digitization of irreplaceable Tibetan texts with a much larger audience from the US to China. We can generate the kind of media buzz that will ensure that Gene’s mission receives the continued awareness and support it needs.
