My passion for putting an end to Human Trafficking started about a year and a half ago. I was trying to come up with an idea for a short film at the time and wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I brainstormed with a good friend of mine, who was also the lead actress in the film. She said that the topic of human trafficking had been on her mind. From there, I did a lot of research and got in contact with many of experts in the field. She and I wrote out a script and created a semi-abstract look at the entire human trafficking industry. The film went on to be an official selection of the Orlando Film Festival. Since that time, I have worked on the Hollywood feature film "Rock of Ages" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1336608/) and wrote and directed another short film which is about to enter the festival circuit.
I am now ready to make another film on the subject of human trafficking, specifically the issue of blood diamonds, which is classified as forced labor. I need your help to make my vision come to life! Keep in mind, any money raised that is not used on this film will be donated to Florida Abolitionist - A fairly new, non-profit organization with a goal of raising awareness and bringing an end to human trafficking, starting in Florida. You can learn more about this organization by visiting: http://www.floridaabolitionist.org
This is an important campaign, not only for the creation of the film, but to save the lives of others. The reality is, human trafficking is everywhere. It's not just overseas. In fact, the United States is one of the leading countries involved in human trafficking. Making an estimated $34 BILLION a year, it is second only to the drug trade.
Once completed, this film will be posted on sites such as YouTube and Vimeo, as well as being sent out to Film Festivals around the country and, possibly, around the world.
What We Need & What You Get
The budget for this short film is a mere $3,000. This includes the cost of equipment, transportation, food, props, costumes, post-production, and marketing.
I know we can go above and beyond that goal with your help! Again, anything raised that is not used on the film will be donated to Florida Abolitionist (see the last paragraph in "The Story" section for a link to the website).
You can donate via card or PayPal.
