As a photographer and videographer, I'm typically involved in projects concerning the music industry & entertainment, publishing, advertising or other types of commercial work (http://www.benderienzo.com). However, I'm trying to raise funds to document efforts to fight the sex trafficking of children in Delhi, India.
After working with a California band called The Reel, I was introduced to the reality of the child sex trade, and inspired by their involvement in raising awareness and raising donations for the construction of safe homes & shelters for victims rescued from sex trafficking, I knew I wanted to be involved.
This fall, I will be joining a group of musicians, educators and pastors to head to Delhi, India, one of the capitals of the sex trade. There are over a million children in the sex trade in Africa, and Delhi, a city of 15 million has a notorious reputation for child abuse in this practice.
I am going to capture the trip in photo and video, and return home and create documentary footage and pitches explaining the tragedy going on, but, also, the many ways good people are stepping up to fight this horrendous practice. There are businesses running to help escaped victims earn income, as well as the construction of new safe homes, along with education and prevention programs to keep innocent children and women out of trafficking.
In the 30 days I am using to raise money for this project, 2400 NEW women and children will be added to the already huge number of sex trafficked individuals.
The more people that get involved and speak out against this practice, as well as contribute to fund new shelters and rescue attempts can prevent young girls and women from being trapped into a horrific way of life.
What We Need & What You Get
I am volunteering my time and skills I've learned in photography and cinematography to document as well as edit multiple video piecesit will be a long process of capturing footage, culling material and editing in such a way as to impact people and spur people to respond. Some pieces will be used for churches to educate and recruit help, the different safe homes being built will use to garner more support, and hopefully a teaching series can be developed using some of the footage and lessons learned from the trip.
It's a large undertaking. I need funds to make this trip happen, from getting to India, renting gear, improving editing process, etc. Since I'm on a real time crunch (I had to rush to jump on this opportunity), I'm setting a low goal of $2000, which is really the bare bones minimum I need to make it happen. The reality is, exceeding the goal would allow me to tell the story better and turn around the material much quicker after the trip is complete. For all of those getting involved, we will be offering perks to make you feel a part of the journey with us.
If I do not get the funds needed, I will probably save up to go at a different timethis is something we're committed to and is not a one time deal. We are building relationships and will continue to assist and be involved for the long-term.
Other Ways You Can Help
We definitely need you to share this story with others. Share this with your friends, on facebook, twitter and any other social network you are involved in. Bunko nights as well. ; )
Pray for some amazing things to happen on this trip. Girls are being rescued from torturous lives because of efforts like thisour goal is to make that happen and ultimately, that we can save multitudes more.
