The Story'Dead Rabbits Don't Dance' is a (live action) silent horror film about a boy who discovers that the dead are beginning to come back to life in his sleepy town.
The story begins with a nameless boy feverishly pedaling his way through a cemetery at dusk. The discovery of a mutilated rabbit stops him dead in his tracks, setting the course for a nightmarish journey into childhood fear and imagination...as the dead slowly begin to rise from the grave.
The Boy must face the shattering reality that his parents are zombies and his world is no longer safe from harm. 'Dead Rabbits Don't Dance' is a film that uses chilling imagery, eerie music, and intense sound design to create a film experience that propels you into the mind of a child in the chaos of a terrible nightmare.
This is not your typical blood and gore fest that characterizes many of today's horror films. Our project aims to use the 'less is more' attitude, in the belief that what you don't see is far scarier than what is seen.
Producer's Note From J.P. DiSciscio (duh-sizzy-oh)"A few years ago I had the most amazing experience as a film instructor at Raw Art Works in Lynn, Massachusetts where I met Shawn Story and Bryan DeLeon (two talented high school students in the Real To Reel film school program that I taught at). At the same time, I met Matthew Feener and Desiree McMahon (two equally talented students who were working as assistants to the film school program).
Needless to say, these amazing kids (now adults) have helped me with every film project I've directed since meeting them. They give up their time, work for free, and never ask for anything in return.
So, after finding a script I wrote when I was twenty years old, I asked that they direct it. Together, they have worked their tails off to make this happen, preparing everything with utmost perfection.
I have watched in the past four months as this remarkable crew has gone through countless rewrites, scouted incredible locations, tested special effect make-up, auditioned actors, studied lighting, and many, many other infinite details that go into creating a film from scratch.
I am proud to be part of this project as their producer and look forward to this great film seeing the light of day!"
Hello! We are Desiree McMahon, Shawn Story, Bryan DeLeon, Matthew Feener, and Jean-Paul DiSciscio; we comprise the creative team behind Dead Rabbits Don't Dance. This film will be a culmination of a special collaboration over the past few years, starting when we met while attending Raw Art Works' Real to Reel Filmschool program. We each have made many films; some even going on to screen at noteworthy festivals and earning awards. Some of the festivals include the AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival, the Do It Your Damn Self Film Festival, and Kid's First Film Festival. Films we've worked on together have won awards at the 48 Hour Film Project, Westport Youth Film Festival, and T-Tauri Film Festival. Our film training comes from the Real to Reel Filmschool and Massachusetts College of Art & Design.
