The 2013 crow with no mouth concert series has presented five concerts to date; we have four remaining concerts scheduled, two in August, two in October, presenting eleven additional musicians from across the country. They are as follows:

The first half of the season was made possible by a grant from the Minnesota Regional Arts Council. The second half of our series is presently unfunded, so we are asking all of our friends and colleagues who support our series to donate what they can, enabling us to honor our commitment to our emerging audience and the eleven artists scheduled to perform yet this year.
In addition to the grant cwnm (Jesse and Allie Goin) received from the Minnesota Regional Arts Council, in December 2012 we were notified that we had been awarded a second grant, making a fuller season possible. We set a budget and scheduled nine concerts with 25 performers for the 2013 series.
As we went into the new year, we discovered that the funds from the second grant were not forthcoming, nor was the organization responsive to our many attempts to contact them. Consulting with our fiscal agent and a couple of local arts foundations, we learned this had occurred before with this particular organization. To date they have been unresponsive to our appeals and have not sent the money we were counting on.
Nine of the musicians scheduled to perform in August and October are traveling from around the U.S. to appear. The dollar amount we set as our goal meets their fees and travel expenses, along with the rental fee for Studio Z, where we hold our concerts. Since starting the concert series in 2011, we have presented 40 musicians in 16 concerts without a dollar of compensation for ourselves and have contributed much of our own funding to support the series.
Obviously many we appeal to lie outside of the Twin Cities area, and are unable to attend these performances. We hope these friends and colleagues will support our continued efforts to bring an otherwise unheard music to an emerging Twin Cities audience.
Our deep gratitude for your support.
A brief history of crow with no mouth promotions:
Beginning in 2011 without staff or funding, crow with no mouth promotions has presented concerts of experimental music, bringing to the Twin Cities some of the most vital contemporary composers and improvisers working in the areas of electro-acoustic improvisation, noise, and post-Cagean composition. These artists, who regularly perform and release music well below the radars of the Twin Cities’ existing arts organizations and performance venues, are now being heard in a superb venue made for listening.
In the past two years crow with no mouth promotions has presented, to cite only two examples, the world premiere of a Michael Pisaro composition, and the Twin Cities debut of Keith Rowe. Mr. Pisaro is regarded globally as among today’s preeminent composers; Mr. Rowe, co-founder in 1964 of AMM, is one of the most influential musicians in electro-acoustic improvisation. Prior to crow with no mouth, the Twin Cities area was lacking a proper venue, curator, and an engaged audience to provide the infrastructure essential to drawing such world-class musicians.
