What we do:
Creations for Charity is an annual fundraising event to give new and official Lego sets to underprivileged children during the holidays.
We have a unique way of doing this. We raise money by selling custom Lego creations made by Lego builders from all over the world. Since 2009, we raised about $17,000 and donated over 1,100 brand new Lego sets to organizations like Toys for Tots, Make-A-Wish, and childrens hospitals across multiple cities in the US.
This year we are expanding our donations to two countries outside the US: Chile and Croatia, and we need a lot more funds to buy enough Lego to make this happen. This is why we launched this campaign.
What we need and what you get:
When you make a donation or purchase a custom Lego creation, you will help us buy new and official Lego sets for the children. If the feeling of knowing that you have brightened the holidays of a child in need isn't enough, then check out these incentives:
- Wristband printed with Creations for Charity and our icon.
- Ornament printed with our logo.
- A magnet made entirely out of Lego elements featuring a custom printed tile with our logo and two custom-chromed red bricks.
Commission a custom creation from an experienced Lego builder! Take a look at examples of what we can build for you:
Please note: pending the number of commissions we receive, commissioned creations are not guaranteed to arrive before Christmas as each will take hours or days to design and build.
Where does the money go?
A small portion of our funds goes towards making these awesome thank-you gifts you just saw, and the rest is used to buy Lego for the kids. We have distribution coordinators in our donation areas who will be scouting out the biggest sales on Lego so we get the most bricks for our buck. We typically buy Lego sets at more than 40% off!
We donate the Lego sets to organizations that specialize in distributing toys to children in need. They include Toys for Tots, Make-A-Wish, childrens hospitals, and orphanages. This year, we will be donating in Chicago, Dallas, Grand Rapids, Los Angeles, Chile, and Croatia.
Why is this important?
It's hard to find a kid who doesn't like Lego, but some have never owned a Lego set or much of other toys. When we give Lego, we give a toy that sparks the imagination and provides endless possibilities of play. You may have fond memories of yourself growing up playing with Lego, and if so, be thankful. We would like to see more children growing up with these memories.
