The State of Ohio is trying to kill Keith LaMar. He was framed for murder (convicted solely on paid "snitch" testimony) following the Lucasville Uprising, an 11-day stand off at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in 1993. The State of Ohio hid evidence which later came to light--but too late for Keith. Known to friends as Bomani Shakur, he has written a book telling the harrowing story of not only of what occurred during the uprising and it's aftermath, but also how the investigators, prosecutors, attorneys bent over backward to convict him, and how they've built a massive supermax prison in response to the uprising to house Bomani and his comrades in solitary confinement these last 17 years.
The book is finished. Bomani needs our help to raise the funds to promote it. Our goal is to order 250 copies and get it into as many people's hands as possible. Bomani's last appeal in federal court will be scheduled any time in the next 18 months, and we want to use the book to mobilize support for that court date. IT'S HIS LAST CHANCE AT JUSTICE. All proceeds from selling the book will go back into ordering more copies and getting it into more people's hands.
By donating here you can help make that happen. Bomani seeks liberation for all people. He sees his story not only as a plea for his life, but as an organizing tool. He says: "My hope is that I can somehow use what has happened to me as an illustration of what can happen to any poor person in America. In a real sense, then, this book isn't just about me or about what happened to various prisoners during/after the Lucasville Uprising. It's about all of us. What happened to me can happen to you. Especially if you are poor. Especially if you are a minority. Especially if you are alone... or at least feel that you're alone."
