Celebrating My Native American Heritage Is Not A CrimeChelsey Ramer is a high school senior at Escambia Academy High School in Alabama. She is also a proud member of the Poarch Creek Band of Indians. To celebrate her Native American heritage, she wore an eagle feather on her motorboard at graduation - pretty awesome!
But Headmaster Betty Warren would have none of it. She fined Chelsey $1,000 and withheld her diploma and transcripts until she pays the fine. This is outrageous. Let's pay Chelsey's fine!
Donate what you can and share with your friends on Facebook an Twitter. First donation gets a free First Peoples t-shirt.
If you can't donate, call the new Escambia Academy headmaster at (251) 368-2080 and tell him to recind the fine and apologize to Chelsey.
If we can get Escambia Academy to recind Chelsea's fine and/or we raise more money, Chelsey can use the money to further her education.
