I'm Jezabel Montero, writer, producer and actor, of the racy, provocative comedy "Cassanova Was A Woman." I've been in showbusiness since the age of thirteen and since 2007 I've been writing, directing and producing my own films with my independent film company, No Clout Productions. My mission is to bring tough subjects, that people don't usually want to address, to the forefront, but always, I mean always, in a humorous way. I feel we need to laugh at ourselves, in order to accept and embrace ourselves.
The second part of our mission is to spread multiculturalism. Being Latina (I'm Cuban American), I want to provide jobs for and introduce as many Latinos to the industry as possible. You're involvement would bring a groundbreaking film to an international audience! Because I have a Latin star attachment, the fact is, all of the Americas and Europe will want to see this film. With your contributions, we can submit to film festivals like Sundance, Toronto, and New York, which expands our audience even more.
What We Need & What You Get
When it comes to independent films, the smaller the budget the harder it is to put out a professional product. We need money for every little thing. From paying crew, to actors, to post production, to editors, to sound mixers and more. Your pledges will go to making this project look like a million dollar one. We need to hire location scouts - this film takes place in four cities. Something as basic as catering can be costly. We have to make sure we feed everyone. Post production can be the most expensive. Besides editing the film, we need to color correct, sound edit, and score the film. That takes hours upon hours and post production, sometimes, takes even longer than preproduction and production. Again, it depends on how much funding we can generate. Editing is probably the most expensive. If we don't reach our goal, we won't receive any funds whatsoever, and it will take that much longer to get this picture off the ground.
Think of how much fun it would be to be in the film; to see your name in the credits; to have a copy of a film you helped make and to be part of the red carpet premiere screening! Those are just some of the rewards for your contributions.
I am determined to make this film. If you watch our ten minute video pitch you will see how long we've been working on this. It must and WILL be made. It is an important subject and when we test drove it in front of a live audience, it worked. It will work even better in it's original form - film. Some of you have been asking us when you can see this film, well here's your chance to make it happen. Everything that I have made a commitment to, I must follow through. It is part of who I am to tenaciously accomplish my goals; but I can only do that with the help of people like you and people like my cast and crew who always give 200% of their energies to ensure that we reach our artistic vision with integrity and professionalism. We were accepted into festivals all over the country with "Blondes Are Latin Too" and "The Basement." They were, cumulatively, in nine festivals and won two awards. As a feature, I promise you, this hip, topical film will make us all proud! We are people with vision and determination. That has been our credo. Hard work is key, but support from the local and worldwide communities is integral.
