WE NEED YOUR HELP TO END THE FAILED WAR ON DRUGS
California is the last domino in America's failed war against cannabis. Cannabis has already been legalized in two states, and once prohibition ends here, freedom from prohibition will spread like wildfire across our nation. California can set this precedent, just as it did with the legalization of medical marijuana.
JUST THE BEGINNING
Since the enactment of reduced penalties against cannabis possession, many shrug their shoulders and ignore the plight of those who are still caught up in our immoral war on drugs under the impression that “it's practically legal anyway.” This is not so. In fact, unequal enforcement of our laws and profiteering by our federal government through the unconstitutional asset forfeiture process has created a catastrophe that is still contributing to the largest prison population in the world and the decimation of our families by CPS and misguided law enforcement agencies who only see the profit they can gain. We must end this illicit war against the good people of our state in order to finally end these great injustices once and for all. Our initiative demands that any who have been unconstitutionally imprisoned for cannabis have their records reviewed and be set free if their only crime was use or distribution of this healing herb. This is the precedent we want to establish across our entire nation.
WHY IT MATTERS
Even if you are not a cannabis user or do not know a cannabis user, this issue still matters to you. Hemp can provide a foundation for a more green economy through the productions of oils, a more quickly renewable source of fiber and paper products, and a more environmentally friendly building material. Hemp also provides valuable nutrition through its seeds. In fact, this plant is one of the most environmentally beneficial plants available for large scale growth. We need to finish this fight and take the teeth out of the federal governments invasive and failed war on drugs, its attacks on our privacy, our environment and our bodies. Just as we have the right to be free of GMO foods and invasions of our privacy, we have the right to access the medicine and environmentally beneficial plants that we need for our health and welfare.
THE PLAN OF ACTION
We are taking a two-pronged approach for the signature gathering process. The most common method of qualifying a ballot initiative is accomplished by hiring one or more professional petition circulating companies. We estimate that we can achieve this by raising 1.5 million dollars. Contracting with these companies for 750,000 signatures will insure our ballot qualification.
The second approach is to harness the widespread enthusiasm and support that we are getting from California citizens from all walks of life who are eager to see legalization happen, and who are expressing the desire to participate in the process. Our volunteer base of dedicated participants have pledged to get a minimum of 250 signatures over the course of the circulation period. We have built a structure of regional, city, district, and local coordinators who will handle the work at the local level in their cities and communities. We are using social media such as Facebook and Twitter both at the local and statewide level to coordinate the various efforts, disseminate information, and to raise awareness.
Our volunteer army has now been organized and is collecting signatures as we speak. This crowd funding effort is the first step toward gathering the remaining signatures through a professional effort. 100% of the funds we receive via this platform will be used for these circulator contracts. All other CCHI expenses are funded separately. All of the principal officers and directors of CCHI are unpaid volunteers.
OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP
Even if you can't contribute, you can still provide immensely valuable help to our initiative. First, if you are a California voter, please sign up as a volunteer at http://www.cchi2014.org/index.html You can also help by spreading the word about this campaign. Please share this page across your social media platforms and with your friends and family as well. We can use all the help we can get, even if it's just a few minutes a week. Like crowd funding, it all adds up to make this effort a success!
