*This campaign has been extended to Monday, August 20th, not July, as stated in the video. Thank you!
Brooklyn Prospect Charter School (BPCS) is a high performing public school preparing an academically and ethnically diverse group of students in grades 6-12 with the intellectual, personal and social skills necessary for success in college and the global workforce. After 3 years of operating in two temporary spaces, BPCS has finally obtained a permanent location in the Windsor Terrace neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. Now, with your support, BPCS hopes to raise $15,000 to build a new science lab. This lab will be designed to inspire a love of science in our middle and high school students.
Because BPCS is a 501(3) c, non-profit, public school, donations are tax-deductible.
What We Need & What You Get
While we are excited to move to our permanent space this fall, much of the existing structure is in dire need of renovation. We have ensured our budget covers those basic renovation costs. That said, there are currently no science-appropriate facilities in the building.
To close our budgetary gap and install a new science lab including vital safety equipment for our students, the school needs your help in raising $15,000!
In return, we will welcome you to our BPCS Family, share a variety of school-related perks (a water canteen, key chain, umbrella, t-shirt, and of course special recognition), and thanking you for supporting the improvement of science education in our public schools!
Brooklyn Prospect Charter School (BPCS) was started in 2009. We currently teach grades 6-8 and will enroll our first high school class in the fall. From there we will add a grade each year until we fill out a complete 6-12 grade middle and high school population. Our students are taught a full curriculum of English, reading, math, science, social studies, art, music, foreign languages and physical education. Since opening our doors, BPCS students have been rewarded for their hard work. It’s not just shown through good test scores, but the fact that we have created a vibrant learning community, with excellent faculty, and a reputation that is gaining notice in New York City.
- BPCS has received an overall "A" grade from the most recent NYC Dept of Education progress report placing the school in the 84th percentile of all public middle school in NYC.
- The NY Observer ranked BPCS #21 out of the nearly 400 public middle schools in NYC in its NYC's TOP 160 Schools 2012.
As a charter school, BPCS receives public funding and is therefore considered a public school. But that funding is less than what traditional district schools receive, making fundraising necessary. It is financial support from individuals like you that ensures our students have well equipped classrooms that other schools enjoy. Recognizing the importance of improved science education during these critical middle and high school years, we have prioritized the building of a science lab. And with the help of the Indiegogo community, you will help us to enrich the lives of our students.
Thank you for your support.
