Our big, hairy, audacious goal is to help as many students as possible pursue higher education, yet graduate with either no debt or an extremely affordable amount of debt. Too many brilliant 20-somethings are graduating with mortgage sized debt, the monthly payments of which delay or deter their ability to take the next step in life. By sharing their stories, both those drowning in debt and those that did it differently, we believe we can change the face of education, thereby making it more affordable for all.
Ultimately, we want an economy that's thriving, full of talented people walking out their biggest dreams and ambitions. As a country that's deeply mired in national and personal debt, allowing the runaway freight train that is student loans is NOT in our best interest. Help us create massive change by supporting a film engineered to change the way higher education is pursued and paid for!
Our goal is to stop current and future students from blindly signing on the dotted line. “College” has become such a cultural assumption that it seems as though many students automatically go through the application process without actually knowing why. We believe that it’s in our nation’s best interest to have brilliant minds walking out their dreams, rather than putting their lives on hold while “getting on their feet”.
We don’t want the coming generation to be broke, busted, and disgusted. We’re not shouting, “Don’t go to college!” but, “Don’t JUST GO to college without a reason or a plan!” We want to educate families and students so that they can make decisions that lead to a great future, and so that they can find their way to wealth, health, and happiness.
The current traditional higher education system (college) has been evolving aimlessly over the last several decades, with no purposeful transformation in sight. This has led to academic inflation, degree depreciation, tuition spikes, and debilitating student-debt. The only way to change the system is for ours and the students' voices to be heard. This film provides the people an outlet and voice - a way for us to hold sit-ins with universities and politicians.
This issue of thoughtless college consumption and extreme student debt is a national, a cultural and a personal issue. And we aim to expose the reasons why this is happening. If you’re currently carrying a debt load, and/or have loved ones who are about to enter the same boat, it’s in your best interest to back this project.
Help spare yourself and others from deferring your dreams, simply because you were sold on the idea that a college degree equals success.
Our passion to tell this story can only take us so far. Funding will allow us to travel across the nation, use the right equipment, keep the lights on back home, and distribute the film to the world.
Along our journey, we will sit down with authors, thought-leaders, professors, students and politicians across the nation, to help explore and understand this complex issue of higher education. Aside from traditional colleges, we will be speaking with creators of alternative avenues of higher education that are allowing students to create successful careers by enrolling in online programs.
