ABOUT THE FILM?
Over the last five years an independent record shop has closed in the UK every three days. SOUND IT OUT (75 mins) is a documentary portrait of the very last surviving vinyl record shop in Teesside, North East England.
A cultural haven in one of the most deprived areas in the UK, SOUND IT OUT documents a place that is thriving against the odds and the local community that keeps it alive. Directed by Jeanie Finlay who grew up three miles from the shop.
A distinctive, funny and intimate film about men, the
North and the irreplaceable role music plays in our lives.
The official film of Record Store Day 2011.
OUR STORY
In 2010 270 totally wonderful people supported the making of SOUND IT OUT here on IndieGoGo. This amazing support helped us make our independent documentary, complete the post-production and take the film to SXSW for its world premiere. The reception from critics and audiences has been overwhelming and now we need your help to finish the story and bring SOUND IT OUT to cinemas across the UK.

THE IMPACT
SOUND IT OUT tells the story of a shop thats surviving against the odds in a time where empty shops are a familiar sight - everybody remembers the record shop that changed their life and the independent shops of their youth that have now closed down. Where we chose to spend our money is important, perhaps now more than ever. Every penny can make a difference.
