What is Blackout
Blackout is a British horror short film written and directed by James Bushe, and produced by Scott Power.
The Nation has been struck by a mysterious electrical blackout, throwing the country into chaos. Criminals everywhere are using the lack of alarms and cctv to loot and rob. One such group of opportunist robbers move forward a planned job and break into an antiques warehouse, taking the night-shift security guard as a hostage.
As the job nears completion, they soon come to realise that something else is also using the darkness to it's advantage. Something evil. Alliances will need to be formed if they are to survive the night and stop whatever is hunting them.
Blackout is a very ambitious short film involving a lot of low light filming to create a cold and dark atmospheric feel, plus many visual effects, and clocking in at 25 minutes running time.
So where are we now
Up until this point the film has been completely self-funded by us, which has got us as far as shooting the film and locking the edit. However we still have a lot to do to complete post-production including ADR & foley studio time, sound design & mixing, credits, music, grading and finishing the visual effects - which you can appreciate all cost time and money.
So this is where we really need your help. With your contributions we will be able to complete our film to the best standard we can, which in our opinion is already very high. The aim is to get the film completed by the beginning of April, in time to be entered into the Cannes short film corner 2012, followed by various horror festivals throughout the year. Any money raised will go towards the post-production costs listed above, even if we fall short of our target we will endeavour to complete it as too much blood, sweat and tears have already gone into it. That is why we are running a short campaign to give us as much time as possible to work on the post-production.
We have created a selection of different perks for your contributions. Ranging from signed one sheets & digital version of the script, to Executive Producer credit, DVD/Bluray of the finished film & actual prop used in the short.
Even if you are unable to donate, you can still help us by spreading the word to as many people as you can. Friends, family, anyone in your network who you think might be interested. All help is much appreciated.
