❝Prediction: Bideas Is The Next Big Idea❞
A fraction of the world's most innovative companies we will beam your ideas to at launch†
Your Big Idea Can Lead to Big Change – For the World and in Your Pocket.
Help Us Make that Happen.
Do you have an idea of any kind that you've never been able to get out there due to bureaucracy or prejudice, but that know could make a big difference and big money? If you have, or are a company that embraces innovation, we've got an idea...
❝Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something❞ – Edison
- Due to funding problems, Charles Babbage died before his invention was completed. That invention was the first computer.
- For every one we know about, how many more world-changing ideas die away because there isn't a Babbage Jr. or Mrs Babbage to carry on the fight?
- Global innovation is being slowed by an estimated 2300% because of this.
- The culprits are prejudice and the Patent system which – founded in 15th century Italy – is an archaic, extortionate roadblock to innovation.
- The solution to this problem will come through the computer itself...
And you'll get a lot more than just success in return. Pledge $20 today, get $190 to use at Bideas.com. Pledge $35+, get $285! See 'Perks' for more great deals, and pledge now!
- You think of a clever company slogan you want to pitch to big ad agencies...
- You think of or write an innovative movie idea...
- You come up with an amazing toy or game idea...
- You write a seriously catchy song...
- You invent a baby or mom product that solves a big problem...
- You discover a scientific breakthrough or formula...
- You create an advanced type of electric car battery...
- You have a great idea for a mobile app that could make millions...
...but until now you had no idea where to take it? Let Bideas turn your thoughts into things!
THE SELLER'S PROBLEM: In days of yore when you thought about selling – for example – second hand goods, it meant hoping for the best, using random shop windows and local newspapers, before eBay and Craigslist revolutionized that. Don't you think the laborious way ideas themselves are bought and sold belongs in the past too? $30,000 patents, million-to-one competitions, nerve-wracking TV shows, cold calls, sharks, dragons, unsolicited rejection letters, lawsuits... It's a minefield! Indiegogo is one of the few genuinely fun arenas for innovation out here.
So whether you’re an ad-man or soccer mum, writer or composer, architect or father of three, where do all these amazing ideas go? Sadly, often nowhere. You think about them from time to time, try to get them out there, companies refuse to open their door, the ideas just die away, and mother earth loses out. This slows down global innovation. Don't you think that's crazy?
THE BUYER'S PROBLEM: And if you were a company, would you rather:
- Use the best idea from your perceptibly "safe" in-house team & colleagues, or;
- Play it safe until a great idea makes it big, then buy it, but for millions extra, or;
Safely receive the best new idea that day in the world, whilst it's still great value?
We have that solution. Our unique business model and groundbreaking mechanisms solve both conundrums, and rather than drive prices up like a traditional 'auction,' they predict the genetic fingerprint of future game-changers, thus saving the company money while making you a relative small fortune. See "Our big idea" below for more on all that in a moment.
And let's never forget all the women who have world-changing ideas like those of Mary Anderson (windshield wipers) or Stephanie Kwolek (Kevlar), but whose innovations instead died away because they faced gender roadblocks in male-led industries. Bideas want to create one level playing field to turn every human being's thoughts into things, via one friendly interface. And crucially, the whole process will take place whilst protecting both parties equally through a legally watertight confidentiality agreement, and a few trade secret special twists (they're our special sauce). Furthermore, unlike the public offerings on eBay, Bideas is a private portal where only the top companies we hand pick will be able to view your idea.
We'll be working with top L.A. copyright and entertainment law firm, Lowe & Associates.
Remember, companies already engage in blind 'auctions' every day – from film script bidding wars to inventors shopping round their ideas for the best deal. We securely tidy that process up for the good of all, without it even seeming like an auction, because companies must innovate better and cheaper to win big, and the key to that is your big idea.
❝Innovative companies .. understand innovation never happens in a vacuum .. are not afraid to break with the norm and push past conventional wisdom that causes people to think in a box.❞ – Rebecca Bagley, Forbes
❝A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on.❞ – JFKJust like crowdfunders get ideas cheap by supporting them early, so can companies. And your mind is amazing! We know that you have that world-changing idea within you, that you'd rather not start your own company to sell. Especially when there's already a perfectly good company out there that could buy it. Nobody needs that much company.
❝...but now, corporate America is reaching out to the independent inventor .. You’ve got successful kid inventors .. grandmothers and everybody in between.❞ – United Inventors Association
❝The patent system is broken❞ – The Verge, Daily Tech, & many more
Transceive ideas privately with buyers in the world's new secure inno-bubble.
The patent system is largely unchanged since it began in 15th century Italy. The Internet is amazing. Why haven't the two been effectively linked yet? Recent studies show the average cost of the 5% of infringements that don't settle out of court is actually $1 million per case.
Yes, the copyright systems are decrepit and being abused. But out of the flames of the old, imagine what our world will be like if world-class organizations could tap safely into the innovation stream of all the world's ideas through a global 'one-stop-shop'. With your pledge we'll no longer have to imagine.
❝The small-time inventor appears to be making something of a comeback .. A surprising number of those pursuing better mousetraps .. are still garage and bedroom tinkerers.❞ – Mike Brunker, NBC
So Bideas is the private idea crowdsourcing portal being built for the people. That's why we're coming to Indiegogo. We have to raise funds to complete the website, app, and our team, so Bideas can partly be built by the people. Our founders know from experience that having to answer to big bucks investors often leads to a stifled, boxed in product, and we're all about thinking outside the box. We hope you agree.
Great companies need great ideas.
People with great ideas need great companies.
Who are open and innovative enough to listen.
Help us disrupt antiquated systems of stuffy rubber stamps and certificates you put in a frame, following practices from the 15th century. It's really starting to show (–Electronic Frontier Foundation). Because when that flood of new stuff appears via Bideas, it will quickly feel like we're living in the 22nd century.⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
THE SOLUTION: You could think of Bideas.com also as a sort of 'online dating' that happily marries innovators to companies. If Cupid can use a helping hand, why can't Genius?
It's an exciting new startup based in Los Angeles, founded by successful inventor and entrepreneur Chris Simpson. The site and app will be a secure, private, bid-and-auction marketplace for you to get that idea in your head, sold, simply and quickly. Keep reading to find out how.
❝It's not clear that we really need patents in most industries ... It's a problem.❞
– Federal Judge Richard A. Posner (Reuters)
We agree, Judge. Where there’s a problem, there can be a solution. Welcome to our big idea!
The Bideas idea factory beams innovative companies no more than one miracle a day
Companies' fear of being sued if they let you show them your "Eureka!" moment is an outdated, false economy that loses them an innovative edge, and therefore money. And if they're losing money, so are you. So our big idea includes a groundbreaking umbrella of review and detection mechanisms that will clear the long-standing, fossilizing hurdles – and ours are patent pending for what it's worth, so yours don’t have to be. 'It just works.' More on that in a second...
Furthermore companies already work with old-school brokers every day, as do innovators with agents. With Bideas as the secure hi-tech broker and agent in one, the need for such early red tape and bureaucracy that officials like Judge Posner criticizes, falls elegantly away. Goodbye old friend.
We do this using a special, patent pending (rather ironically) combination of NDAs, defensive publication, tracked company clicks, and trade secret law. Click here for a Wikipedia "Patent" article that discusses just some of that in more depth.
We realized that, by trading your idea in our watertight bubble – with only companies who have signed our unique confidentiality contract – we could remove the need for an 'up-front' patent that would protect you from nothing yet choke your purse-strings, and instead let the resourceful company obtain the idea safely first, and the expensive patent second, if at all. And the same goes for other forms of copyright.
Just like digital was the future of photography, we believe crowdsourcing is the future of innovation. We want big companies and your big ideas to be part of that future, rather than a 'Polaroid' of the world that fails to innovate, and like a photo, fades away...
#WhatsYourBigIdea? Bideas will finally give it wings, while you're still in your PJs. Here's where the magic happens!:
Upload your big idea!
As much or as little of it to the private, secure area of our site. (See FAQ for categories.)
Pick its sector!
And pay an all-in-one fee, from just $10 - $95 depending on the sector.
(Though we'd love to do it for nothing, we believe the industry expert opinions you'll receive, plus taking days of pitching work off your hands, has value.)
By agreeing to our special and unique Terms & Conditions that - with a few clever and novel twists - protect both parties equally.
Sit back, get fingerprinted & rated!
Included in the small fee, our hand-picked panel of Industry Experts in each sector queue then analyze and rate your submission based on a number of factors (some of which stay behind-the-scenes). Our mechanisms then generate a likelihood score (out of 5 stars or 100%) as to whether your idea has the genetic fingerprint of later success on its early seed. Magic! This rating alone gives you invaluable feedback + market research as to your idea's viability.
We queue then privately send your idea directly to the inboxes of only those company's buyers, in that same category, who fit with receiving that success-star rating of idea or higher. Crucially company buyers only ever receive 1 such email per day, max. (They love this.)
Those companies can then exchange as much more info/prototypes with you as needed – if any – and place their one 'best offer' to hopefully secure the rights to your big idea and their next. The 'blind auction' means nobody knows what each company has bid except you. Then just like in real world deals, the best offer wins. Simples.
'Microsoft and Google started a bidding war over my software idea, and Apple came in late and won!' – Possible future Bideas user & I.T. Student
Bideas is our big idea. Please PLEDGE and SHARE now, so we can help you sell yours. Because the clock is ticking before someone else comes up with your idea and profits from it instead (we know, we've been there). If you start, others will follow, so show the world what an innovator you are.
❝Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.❞ – Albert Einstein
But it shouldn't have to be. Help us change that.
Hear what a friend has to say about our Founder's perksFirst, your pledge today will change a broken process, and give thousands of people around the world – including you – the opportunity to be recognized and rewarded for their innovative thinking. You have the opportunity to personally help revolutionize all marketplaces, be they environmental, commercial or charitable, and help open the world to a new age of innovative enlightenment that can be just plain fun, can make the world greener, safer, can improve lives, or even save them. It’s a big deal (and we think pledgers will make some big deals, too).
'I thought of a slogan while brushing my teeth. 'Headache? Take it, Aleve it!' I posted it on Bideas and 4 weeks later Aleve's PR firm bought it!' – Possible future Bideas memberAside from good karma and the main Naked Entrepreneur Pack below, pledgers will also receive a series of record-breakingling generous discounts to use when Bideas.com launches. Sure, you can get a soon-to-exist cool gadget at cost price by helping its creators build it first, but we're different – we don't have the manufacturing overheads, so help us build it, get it up to 600% cheaper as a result.
And now for the main perk event...
We're keen to reward pledgers quickly and we're also crafting something of quality that we want to do right, not rushed. Sure, we could offer a T-shirt with our logo in the meantime, but we want our main reward to reflect the unique nature of Bideas. Bideas is all about an exchange of ideas. So we thought best to make our first and main reward thirteen award-winning creative ideas that came from the minds behind Bideas itself.
Sharing your personal creative ideas – your babies – with company execs can sometimes feel like getting naked in front of strangers… With these prizes, our founder is getting naked first.

Over $25.00PLEDGER REWARD
You'll get the pack within a month of the campaign's close. These perks represent years of work and none of them would exist if it wasn't for an idea.Okay, your turn to get naked now. All other rewards are detailed up on the right ↗︎
The value proposition of Bideas promotes a rare but genuine win-win-win situation for all parties:
Summary of how each party benefits:
- Get access to the next big thing at a cut cost price to them (still a small fortune to the creator)
- Retain their innovative competitive edge over their competition
- Get to market their brainwave without the expense of antiquated legal protections
- Get to cash out on their big idea without the stress of having to start their own company
(because the above company is already a company!)
It's also a perfect complement to Indiegogo or other crowdfunding platforms. You could for example use Indiegogo to raise money to build a really great prototype, or even patent your idea (not that you need to with Bideas), or hire a ghostwriter, or get your song professionally recorded, or have your fashion designed... you name it. Then, after your campaign closes, you can move the results onto Bideas.com for expert rating and to be opened up to secure bidding.
'Bideas walked with me and my 5-star screenplay every step of the way until I was offered 7-figures by 20th Century Fox' – Possible future Bideas screenwriterEither way, we know Bideas will revolutionize the world of innovation, just as eBay revolutionized the antiques market, and sites including Indiegogo have revolutionized the market for raising capital. That's why you're here.
We did our due diligence in buckets. (Not literally, that would be weird.) Our market base is established, and growing. And so are the companies who thrive on and rely on a constant stream of innovative ideas to survive and compete effectively.
❝We wake up inventing (breakfast bacon chips – Patent No. 6,699,520) and go to bed inventing (arm pillow – Patent No. 6,691,353).❞ – Mike Brunker, NBC
It is an interesting challenge to fully estimate the innovation market size and its growth patterns. As a general guideline, however, we can use data from the US “Kauffman Index of Entrepreneurial Activity” to show qualitative trends of growth. The amount of new entrepreneurs has been steadily increasing since 2001 in the US when entrepreneurs created about 4.7 million new business. In 2011—the most recent year for which the US Kauffman Index has data—entrepreneurs created about 6.8 million businesses that year. An increase of 43%! We see that the growth is similar in other markets such as the UK.
❝This is an extraordinarily inventive age.❞ – Arthur Molella, Smithsonian Institution
It's also an extraordinarily open age for innovative companies. Entrepreneurism is alive and well around the world, and with the recession and the unfortunate job cuts, more so than ever. Bideas wants to help. And due to the rapidly expanding market there is no reason why Bideas will not grow to become the next big Internet friendly giant, to rival those such as eBay. (And the patent and copyright houses.) But...
What we're asking seems like a large figure, but compared to virtually any other technology startup, it's actually tiny. Our founders are experts in efficiency (aka startup 'bootstrapping'), and realized Bideas could be built for the much smaller sums that crowdfunding is perfect for, whilst leaving Bideas free of the constraints of a board of investors.
❝Almost everybody has an idea or an improvement. The only difference is that 'inventors' do something with their idea.❞ – Bob Lougher, United Inventors Association
We've already raised a good portion internally, but here's what the crowdfunded funds are going to help towards:
- Costs of building the next 'eBay' from the ground up ($20,000+)
- Building a sister mobile app ($4,600)
- Lawyer fees to streamline unique Terms & Conditions that protect both sides equally ($22,500)
- Conversion of provisional patent into full utility patent completion fees for our pending umbrella patent so you don't need one ($14,000)
- Cross-filed copyright and trademark fees for the UK and other countries ($14,000)
- Expanding company liaison team to 3+ to turn potential partners into bidders ($90,000)
- Web server hosting ($425/month)
- Small startup office space ($7-9,000/month)

3 - 2 - 1 - Launch!
- For this we can effectively launch Bideas.com into full live beta with expected features. This crowdfunding campaign is the culmination of years of planning on the Bideas brand idea.
- As with any crowdfunder, it's also a form of market research. We invite you not to think, “This is just what I want – I’ll just wait till it launches!,” but rather that by pledging and ensuring we reach our funding goal, you also ensure Bideas.com will go on to live as a one-stop-home for all the world's great ideas. They're your ideas. It really is up to you.

You Go Public
- Bideas at its core is intended to be private, secure, with each idea submission fully tracked to recipient company – which is why you don't have to have a patent to use it. But there is also an opportunity to add an optional public listing area (on an opt-in basis only) where conceivers like you may still choose to list ideas publicly, to be rated by the innovation community, and where they may also be viewed by prospective bidders who may otherwise not have received them. A patent or copyright registration would be more preferable here, contrasting our core private website section.
- Feasibly the public would also be able to ‘rate’ your idea, instead of/as well as our own panel, giving you TWO sets of ratings to be displayed to potentially bidding companies.
- The pros of all this would include being able to get a quicker and broader gauge of your idea's viability in order to refine it before a full launch, as well as giving it a wider audience, without relying on getting higher Bideas expert panel ratings.

Beam It Over Scotty
- For more advanced users, we will add full support for 3D printers
- Upload a 3D printer CAD file and we’ll add a “Prototype Available” sticker to your submission that companies see
- We’ll then go on to print your prototype and deliver it to companies who request it, by courier (for a small extra fee)

Why would companies prefer this way of operating?
They already do. 'Auctions' effectively happen every day, in a more haphazard way. An entrepreneur may shop his idea to the best angel investor, or on shows like Dragons' Den/Shark Tank; an inventor may take an idea to 3 or more companies and go with the highest bidder; companies headhunt expensive idea innovator employees; movie studios engage in bidding wars over scripts; and so on. Bideas organizes, secures and un-breaks the process that is already occurring.
Plus by buying 5-star ideas from you at the earlier stage, and saving you the expense of instead starting your own company that turns you grey, they save millions.
What sort of ideas can I submit?
Anything. You think of it, there's a category to submit it to on Bideas, including:
"Money Saving" or "Toys & Games" or “Design” or "Environmental" or "Movie Ideas" or "Automotive" or "Charities" or "Songs" or “Logos” or "Comics" or "Fitness" or "DIY" or "Scientific" or “Fashion” or "Logos" or "T-shirts" or "Baby" or "Ad Slogans” or "Music Videos", and more.
How much will it cost to submit an idea?
As little as $10 for smaller ideas, up to no more than $95 for major ideas. This covers not only your listing, but also Bideas expert panel scoring, and submission to companies. If and when your idea sells, a finder’s fee between 2.5% - 7.5%, just like eBay or any other auction site.

How far along are you in the process?
About halfway. By its very nature the crowdfunding campaign is the early stage of a company's formation. Everything is mapped out, patents applied for, trademarks registered, website and app basics designed, and our genetic fingerprinting markers are in place. The full site and app itself have not been completed, and that's exactly why we need the funds. Love the idea? So do we! Let's get it done.
†What companies are signed up to bid on my ideas?
More than we could've imagined. At this early stage, prospective innovation partners are those we are in – or have completed – two-way talks with, to become beta testers and real bidders, for pledgers' real ideas. We know you will understand that we are as protective of some aspects of our idea as we would be of yours. Naturally each company and relationship is different and discussions are commercially sensitive. Talks with each company are at varying levels ranging from initial introductions, to full negotiations, to and including written document or letter of intent or contract – we just can't say which in such a public forum, yet. All announcements need to be made at the same date. Just know that we will not stop until the majority of Fortune 500 companies are able to bid on your big ideas. And backers will be the first to know exclusively when announcements are ready, via our Bideas 'VIPers' Club.
What if companies don't want to sign up?
But some have! This proves the concept of our business model. But firstly, know this – we already have a comprehensive database of the key buyers' names and contact details at thousands of the world's top companies, many of which we are already in communication with (see above). So even in the unlikely event such company does not want to directly join us, your idea will still be beamed to the best, one way or another, and they'll only be able to see it after they agree to the terms that protect you. But in the unlikely event "innovative" Company A can't handle our one free email containing the world's most profitable opportunity that day, and unsubscribes, that's 100% OK – innovative competitors B, C, and D can thrive in the world's innovation stream without them for a few game-changing wins, until Company A signs back up.
Why are you using crowdfunding rather than other methods of raising capital?
Bideas is for crowdsourcing ideas. Crowdfunding fits with our core values. Bideas is being built for the people, and we felt there was a certain commercial value in having it also be therefore built by the people. That's not to say there can't be a possible second round of investment if needed, but wouldn't it be wonderful if Bideas existed purely because of the people who wanted to use it? We feel there's a symmetry in that, which will benefit us all. And there's sort of a catch 22: We can't launch Bideas without innovation partners, but we can't get all our key innovation partners signed without building Bideas. This platform solves that problem. Plus Bideas won't be restricted by conflicting wishes of multiple big investors who we know from experience can force us to think inside a box we're already broken free from.
Why exactly doesn't Bideas demand a patent or equivalent copyright protection per industry?
Everything you register with us is digitally timestamped to prove when you originated it, and we'll stand by that.
We believe the time for patents is after a resourceful company has obtained a young idea securely and frugally, not before – when it's up to you to handle the insane costs and legal gobbledygook that are a roadblock to global innovation. If "the patent system is broken" (Forbes' words not ours), then we're like a special breed from the future of those forms of Copyright houses, in the good ways and then some.

What’s stopping companies stealing my ideas?
They don't even see it until they agree to the terms that protect you. After that a legitimate bad rating would effectively blacklist them out of our millions of the world’s ideas, while their competitors thrive on them alone. And it’s illegal. And a breach of contract. We're sure Bideas is safer than any other, older method.
Click here for longer answer ❐
What if they copy my idea anyway?
Still illegal! And we’re certain they won’t, and can’t. But we’d hold such an idea conceiver’s hand and stand up in court to prove their filing date with us. Which is even more so why we’re certain they won’t.
Click here for longer answer ❐
What if they’ve already developed a similar/the same idea internally?
We have a high-tech unique trade secret solution for that. (It’s our secret sauce.)
What if someone patents a similar idea simultaneously?First come first served. If they were first, they could prove it with their patent date. If you were first, you can prove it via our system report, and we'll be your expert witness.
Click here for longer answer ❐
How will a bidding company know if my idea actually works before they bid?
They can request more info from you until they are happy to do so.
Click here for longer answer ❐
What sort of bids can be placed on my ideas?
- An outright cash buyout of your idea, and/or;
- A licensing royalty per ‘unit’ of your idea they sell, and/or;
- A percentage stake in a company you might have set up for the idea, in return for investment capital (think “Shark Tank”/”Dragons’ Den” style)
For some categories it will work a little differently based on industry standards. E.g. for the songwriting arena, the 'bid' will be the 'split' the publisher offers the writer on the mechanical royalties. E.g. Warner may offer the writer 50/50, Universal 51/49, Sony BMG 52/48. There will be other factors too. We then look at the overall best bid and that's the winner.
Or for the Toy arena, we will include a stage where the manufacturer can request your prototype (which we may 3D print – see further funding stages above). Typically they will offer an industry standard 5%, and you can set your reserve to achieve that. On average for every 7,000 ideas considered, around 5 are licensed. However this is because those 7,000 are not "5-star" ideas, as ours will be. Our success rate will therefore naturally be higher, and the companies win big too.But they can only ever bid with your help to launch Bideas in the first place. Pledge now.
What's to stop my idea selling for $1?
You can set a "reserve price" – the minimum you would accept. This is hidden from bidders, but if the auction does not reach this value, they will see "Reserve price not met" displayed. If the reserve price is not met at the end of the auction, then you do not have to sell the idea. E.g. set a reserve of "$10,000" and only bids over $10,000 will result in a sale.
Can anyone search Bideas for ideas?
Nope. Uniquely unlike other auction sites, Bideas is completely private. We only send by email a per-company SSL encrypted link to your idea page, to companies’ chief buyers, in that same sector, who’ve opted to receive that star-rating of idea. And we only send them one email per day, max. You are the only other person who can follow the auction's progress. See “How to Bideas” near the top of the page for more.
How long will auctions last?
30-90 days dependant on the industry. This gives enough time for an exchange of further information/prototypes if requested, whilst still ensuring the idea stays fresh, and the auction as exciting as groundbreaking innovations should always be.
Are there any competitors to Bideas?
Not really no. Nobody that offers a bid-and-auction format. Nobody that charges under $99. Nobody that doesn’t want you to have expensive copyright protection. There are innovation crowdsourcing companies who work with corporations, and act
