Look around: this is the Crowdfunding effort to make the videogame Between Me and the Night a reality. The goal of this campaign is to fund the development of the FULL GAME, no demos, no prototypes, no showfloor betas, no DLC, no bullcrap. The entire full game will be made if we reach our funding goal, all the press and marketing tools to spread the word about it will are also covered, but most important of all: the fully-playable eye-melting thumb-shattering completely-complete game will be 100% done with this funding.
We’ve been working on this project as a part-time for almost a year, and time has come to take it seriously. If you help us make Between Me and the Night our full-time job we will bring it to PC, Mac and Linux in the nice Summer of 2014, develop a Mobile Companion for iOS, and make many other goodies and surprises.
Have you ever woken up with your heart pounding faster than light because of some weird dream you had? Then you slowly realized it was not real and everything fell into its right place and started to make sense again? What if it didn’t? What if everything just stayed as strange and out-of-place in the morning as it did in your dream?
Between Me And The Night is a surrealist, yet grounded, videogame that dares to walk the thin path between sanity and madness. This exploration game challenges the players to wander around a strange floating house during the day, solving puzzles, so they can have more chances to stand their ground during the night, when things are not exactly the same…
Between Me And The Nigh on duality: good vs. evil; sanity vs. insanity; day vs. night. The Day and Night cycle that exists inside the game is one of the core gameplay features.
During the Day the player will have the opportunity of exploring and interacting with the floating house, solving puzzles to get access to new rooms of this house and to boost his own skills – that will come in handy at night. Many puzzles will have an old-school point-and-click influence.
During the Night the player can try to stay awake and continue to explore the house, but will also have to run away from unexpected adversities. Moreover, when the Boy is sleeping, he will have to face the colossal fears embedded into his mind, bearing the armor and weapons of an ancient Knight.

João Ortega - An ambitious young Portuguese artist that graduated in Graphic Design, he progressed from illustration to comics and, later, animation. He has a passion for solitude-inducing videogames with heavily detailed ambiences, pinacoladas and short walks in the rain. He’s also been making music for six years, having studied blues guitar. @AmazingOrtega
Tiago Loureiro - A brilliant Portuguese code wizard with ten years of industry experience who also teaches martial arts – for real! Pipe-smoking, writing fantasy novels and attending to the many needs of his epic long beard are some of his hobbies. Game Design and Sound Design are his middle names, which quite frankly makes for a pretty weird and long name. @Tiagomploureiro
Karlos García - A charismatic Spanish Game-Dev that has been working on his own pet-projects for years in a garage somewhere in Galicia. His love for 8-bit art and retro-games can only be equaled by his love for his carefully sculpted hair. He’s a workaholic who’s obsessed with getting things perfectly functional and beautiful, which works great when applied to Game & Level Design. @KarloxGarcia
David García - A legendary composer who worked on Deadlight and is currently working on the PS4 exclusive Rime. He will be making the main soundtrack and sound-effects for the game. @Dagadi
Chipzel - The great Chiptune musician who worked on Super Hexagon and released a number one album on Bandcamp just earlier this year, will be making the In-game “Retro Classics” Music. This “Retro Classics” are Arcade games that will be featured In-game, and can be played by our main character. @Chipzel
We have been working on this project in our spare time until now and we feel that the only way we can have it ready and shipped during our lifetime is to work full-time on it. Unless we get the funds we need, we will be forced to either take new jobs or continue on mindless existing ones that leave us with little or no time at all to work on Between Me and the Night.
The other option would be finding a publisher, but that’s Plan Z for us. We have the entire project sketched out since day one, and are not willing to sacrifice our vision easily, which might bring some trouble with a hypothetical publisher.
We love making games, it's in our blood. We have become very enthusiastic and passionate about the concept and particularly with the gameplay experience of Between Me and the Night, and the way we can convey our vision and share our story with YOU.
Ultimately, YOU decide whether this is a project worth coming out. YOU will be a valuable part in the process, being able to comment on certain gameplay aspects, having access to private Betas and, particularly, believing and validating our vision.
Moreover, we really want to commit 100% to this project. Currently, we need to do freelance and contract work to pay our bills (indie developers need food too), and we would really love to be able to dedicate ourselves solely to Between Me and the Night.
It’s a NO RISK investment! We know you probably heard this a thousand times in crappy used car commercials, but this time it’s the absolute truth! None of us will runaway and join the circus, and even if anyone did we have an extensive contact list of professionals who are interested in joining the project since we first showed them the prototype. We won’t let Smiley-The-Clown, or anyone else, get in the way of our dreams.
We have also explored every main mechanic of the game in the prototype, and we made it work. There’s always problems that we can’t predict in game development, obviously, but we have the knowledge and experience - and contact list - needed to solve anything.
Between Me and the Night is our passion project! It’s our opportunity to finally create a name for ourselves in this industry we love! Do you think we will let anything ruin our dream?!
Even if Zombie-Hitler himself came up from Hell and this time around he decided to hate Portuguese and Spanish people, we wouldn’t give up on this project! We would strike down that little Hell-b*tch with our bare hands.

OST & B-sides - A second version of the Official Soundtrack will be made, with great packaging and design, containing additional B-Sides and Remixes.
Extra Music Tracks - Completely new music tracks will be requested to our amazing musicians and more artists, making the game's ambience richer and a new OST compilation will be released.
Extra In-game Game - A new in-game "Retro-Classic" arcade game will be made, providing you with countless more hours of fun!
Expand Companion App - The iOS companion App will be even more complete and feature many new functionalities and integration with the main game.
Extended Gameplay - More in-game Items, Enemies, Puzzles and Rooms will be added to the game.
Extra Cutscenes - More parts of the main narrative will be exposed through beautifully drawn Cutscenes.
Localization Pack - The game will be localized in French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese.
Hire Extra Help - We hire new recruitments to our team, making the development process faster and smoother.
PS4 & PSVita - If approved by Sony, we will adapt Between Me and the Night to run on PS4 and PSVita. It won't be just a cheap port, the game will be fully re-imagined for the platforms.
Our Next Game - We will use this funding to make our next project! Really! It's been locked away for a long time, for we thought the world wasn't ready for it's awesomeness yet, but maybe the time has come...
The Meaning of life - We haven't quite thought out what we'd do with so much money, but if this were to happen we would make something AMAZING! Trust us!
