As I introduced myself in the video, I'm a shy and introverted guy from Finland. The story revolving around this coming Japan trip revolves around me visiting Malaysia earlier this year. I had been living my entire life in my home village, not really seeing much of the world, or even Finland - I didn't venture out of my comfort zone; I was too timid.
In a sense travelling to Malaysia was a desperation move to rewire my brain. I didn't know if it would work... well, it did. I came back home with a host of experiences, and a shift of consciousness. You can very well say that I am a different person now.
Now I want to see if I can push it further. Another country, this time Japan, 18 days of purely pushing myself into new, expanded comfort zone.
Meanwhile you get to see this all as I both shoot HD video of every day of my trip and document it with a daily blog post. You get a window into what is happening in my mind and very likely will end up with an idea if you should try something like this too.
What We Need & What You Get
I have some money of my own for the trip, but given I'm going to cover five cities (Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo, Kobe and Hiroshima) while on my travels there will be lot of money going to travel itself, as well as accommodation and food.
In return of the money you get to see pretty much the whole trip - this will not be some typical travelogue - sure, I will tell you what happened and you will get to see some places on the videos, but I think you will agree that the examining the growth experience itself from close range is the far more interesting thing.
So you will get daily videos and blog posts that hopefully induce some insights of your own - and perhaps motivate you yourself to take on this kind of journey.
For me, it will be a powerful growth experience. I already know this from experience due to the Malaysia visit, but I'm looking to push for even more profound experience this time around by challenging myself further.
For you, I hope following the trip will inspire, entertain and inform you. I want to share this experience with the world to really show how beneficial it can be for people like me, who know they are too timid for their own good - your shyness doesn't have to limit you from experiencing the world.
I've seen similar campaigns here but the people undertaking them usually won't go to this detail about their trip, and they certainly aren't similar people to me - this is a rare change to see transformation happening right before your eyes. I hope it will induce others to take massive action as well.
Other Ways You Can Help
I don't have much platform to speak of, so any sharing and spreading the word will help me tons. My blog gets very little traffic and I'm left with very little (though constantly expanding) network of people after 24 years of extreme introversion.
So the best way really you can help besides donating is to share this as much as you reasonably can. I hope that I can find people who believe in this kind of thing as much as I do!
