Thank you for visiting our indiegogo page. We are Sandra Scheller, and Jason Serres: craft coffee connoisseurs, world travelers, and we need your help.
We have always been into coffee and got the chance to explore this delicious drink throughout Europe in the summer of 2012. We tasted coffee in Berlin, London, and Paris among many other places. Upon our return to San Diego, we reevaluated our current careers. I didn’t take us long to realize that our passion for coffee, and the way that it connects people from all over the world, should play a more prevalent role in our lives.
We realized that Coronado is missing a small business sit down coffee house and wanted to change that. As a result, we are establishing a place where both visitors and the multi-generational community of Coronado can get together. We decided we should open Bean Bar, a coffee house for people to meet up at, to congregate at, to study, to dream, to imagine, to see local art shows or attend fundraisers.
We are all about community and taking time to get to know our customers and the people around us. We want to create a modern, yet comfortable space and need the last little bit of money to start this. As a result, we decided to reach out to our community and YOU to achieve our dream of opening Bean Bar.
Why we need your help!
When we decided that opening a coffee shop is what we wanted to do, we spend a long time perfecting our business plan and goals. We even partnered with a business consultant who has over 30 years of business experience.
Our Mission is to provide exceptional coffee - for coffee lovers, by coffee lovers. We aim to provide a comfortable, sophisticated space, yet easy going and fun enough to spend some time to hang out in. We want to ensure a community driven atmosphere, featuring art shows, events, and gatherings. We pride ourselves in our business, and want to establish a personalized connection with each of our customers.
So, where does my contribution go?
We need 15,000 dollars to get the government-funded loan (SBA Loan) to make all of this happen. This is important, as we have to provide a percentage of the total loan to be accepted by the bank. Ultimately, you are contributing to just about everything. We are funding 25% ($25,000) of the loan, we need the other 15% ($15,000) from you, and 60% ($60,000) will come from the bank. With this we can secure our location, buy the equipment, and build our coffee bar.
Ok cool, but what do I get?
You can help us out by making a large or small contribution. We have created different rewards between 10 and 1000 dollars ranging from a handwritten thank you note (printed on acid free paper), to providing the space for an event. We truly appreciate any help we can get. Please check out the awesome little rewards we have come up with on the right hand side.
We also realize that some of you might not live in San Diego or Coronado, so we have created some rewards for you out of town-ers. But, if you do ever make it to Coronado, we are going to welcome you with open arms.
We also know sometimes money is tight and you just can’t spare a small amount. But, you can still help us. Feel free to use the Indiegogo share tools, post this page on your social media page, and tell your friends and family about this. We honestly thank you from the bottom of our hearts in advance.
We want Bean Bar to come together not only because we are following our dream, but also because we truly want to help our community. We will be providing new jobs, an exciting new business for Coronado, and a place for people to take some time out of their busy days to just relax or meet with friends.
Having worked for a large corporation, we have come to realize the advantages of a small business – and now is the time to open one. We learned about the tax breaks created for small businesses, making them more likely to succeed. It is also important to us that the people we employ are provided with health insurance, workers comp, and vacation/sick pay.
We are not only helping our future employees, but also artists (displaying their work almost commission free), and local charities (by providing a space to host fundraisers). Ultimately, we really want to connect with each customer by providing only the best customer service, and serving only the best organic and fair-trade coffee from around the world. We also know that some of you might not like coffee, so we will also have tea and juices.
How can I stay up to date?
We have created a Facebook page Here
and an Instagram (@thebeanbar) where we will keep you informed about what’s
happening and give shout out’s to those who are contributing. Make sure to
“like” our page to find out when we are going to open Bean Bar.
I think I'm ready to contribute, so how does this work?
1. Enter the total amount of your contribution. If the campaign is in a currency other than your own, be aware that you will be charged the equivalent in your own currency.
2. Select your desired perk, if available. You may choose "No perk, I just want to contribute." if you'd prefer not to claim a perk in exchange for your contribution.
3. Enter your contact and shipping information. Don't worry; this information is kept confidential and is only shared with the campaign owner!
4. Make your payment. You can either choose to use a debit/credit card or your Paypal account. Don't worry; this information is protected and is never saved by Indiegogo.
5. Personalization: Is this contribution from you or from someone else?
