Be More Heroic is an non-profit anti-bullying campaign dedicated to inspiring individuals and communities to stimulate positive, proactive and courageous action in their daily lives.
We invite individuals to redefine heroism by sharing actions that show great determination in advocating against bullying and social change.
Our Mission: To create a world free of complacency in which everyone chooses to be a hero.
Our Vision: Through our projects and services we will inspire individuals to become influential, compassionate and engaged advocates against bullying who seek to make an impact in their surrounding schools and communities.
A place to empower ourselves and one another...
A place to take responsibility for ourselves and one another...
COMPASSION & SERVICE
A place where compassion and service to others is performed effortlessly...
The Be More Heroic team strongly feels that bullying has become a dangerous crisis world-wide. It is a part of our mission to do all we can to not only help raise awareness but resolve the issue to the best of our ability.
In order to kick-start our anti-bullying campaign, in November 2011, we recorded a cover and music video of Foster the People's, Pumped Up Kicks. Reaching over 50,000 views and garnering incredible feedback.
Shortly after releasing the video we launched our site http://bemoreheroic.com. Here we asked our followers to inspire us and others by creating video responses to the question,'What could I do to help end bullying?' You can find some of the awesome responses from followers all over the world also on our site as well as on our YouTube Channel www.youtube.com/bemoreheroic.
The digital response we received instantaneously prompted us to act beyond a digital campaign, we wanted to bring our message directly to every school across the nation and eventually internationally.
That said, Be More Heroic launched the Be More Heroic Fall 2012 School Tour featuring nationally acclaimed Singer/Songwriter Dani Shay, Singer/Songwriter Justin Chase, Actress/Comedian Darmirra Brunson and Student Advocate Savanna Raven.
Be More Heroic has curated an assembly style program, for junior high and high schools levels, to educate the youth on the issue of bullying through music and expert-inspired activities.
The purpose of the B.M.H. School Tour program is to educate the youth on the issue of bullying through music, comedy and student and expert inspired activities. This highly interactive program speaks with the students and administration not to them.
While the foundation of the program will maintain the same message throughout each school, we will work with the students, faculty and surrounding community to evolve the program specific to your school’s needs in order to leave students with tangible resources to utilize far beyond presentation day.
The most important resource we will leave each school with is the implementation of the Be More Heroic club. We will work with the administrators prior to the assembly to choose 4-7 reliable, passionate students to take on a position and one administrator to advise and maintain the campus club.
We will provide a starter kit to each club with all of the necessary resources to assist them in preserving the club for years to come.
In doing this we hope to create student advocates against bullying and community leaders who inspire and stimulate proactive and courageous action within themselves, their fellow students and surrounding community.
In order to provide each school with the necessary amount of resources needed to not only execute the program on assembly day but to continue building the program far beyond presentation day for the students, administrators and parents we need the proper funding.
These resources include:
- Wrist bands
- Banners (Every student will sign on assembly day as their pledge against bullying and the school will find a place to permanently hang it up to act as a reminder everyday)
- Reading materials for the kids, parents and administrators (Brochures, outreach programs, recommended readings, counseling services, other anti-bullying non profit organization materials...etc.)
- Classroom activities for the administrators
- Cardboard, paper, paint, pens etc. for the hype week leading up to assembly day
...and the list goes on!
In order to provide each Be More Heroic club with the proper resources to not only kick-start the club but to maintain a prominent anti-bullying advocate club within each school, again, we need the proper funding.
These resources include:
- $50-$100 stipend
- Printed and bound handbooks with bylaws, officer roles and so forth..
- Pens, paper and other standard office supplies
- Promotional Be More Heroic material
Every single dollar counts, help us make a difference and bring this bullying epidemic to an end one school at a time.
- Share the PSA!
The more people we can get the word out to the better our chances are at reaching our goal in 60 days.
