We are working on raising funds for little Marcus Lee.  He was born with a chromosome twenty duplication and one point three six deletion.  He has a heart valve that faces backwards and puts pressure on esophogus, two hernias, abnormal development of the brain so constant seizures, low muscle tone so has trouble holding up head and breathing.  He will need help with walking and mobility.  He is on 1.5 liters of oxygen while in hospital.  He will go home with five antiseizure meds, and over seven other meds.

He is tired of laying down and only fifteen months old so we are hoping to get him a little wheel chair for babies so he can be in a partial reclining position so not always laying down.  He has twenty one word vocabulary and is a fighter.  Socially he is age appropriate.  But motor skills at four to six months.

We are working hard to make sure he has the best quality life a baby can have under the circumstances.  He has seized so much that he has been in the hospital over twenty one times since he first started having seizures in January.

He laughs and enjoys stocking hats.  IF you cannot donate but like to send him a stocking hat you can mail it Marcus Lee Kauffman 10510 County Road 80, Carthage, MO  64836.

We just want to offer him the best life possible.  He was born 32 weeks gestation eight weeks early, had four drugs in his system and spent the first two weeks crying and in withdrawel.  We did not find out about him till he was thirty two days old.  He held up his hands and we could not walk away.

We finalized the adoption July 12, 2012 and he could not even make it to his own adoption as he was in the hospital.  Also he was not released till the day after his first birthday so he celebrated it a day late.  He was so weak his Dad had to help him attack his cake.  He has a GTube so cannot even eat it.  But he smashed it.

Marcus is amazing and worth fighting for.  He has the reddest hair I have seen on a baby in years.  The doctors at Mercy Childrens Hospital in KC Mo are doing all they can.  Our focus is to adapt our home to his special needs and offer him a life that he deserves.  He did not ask to be born let alone born to a drug addict mom.  He deserves all we can do.  HE is an amazing little boy with a beautiful smile and will to live.
