“What is this film about?” you (extremely valued potential contributor) ask?
Attack of the 50 ft Prom Queen is a satire on teen-age relationship films mixed with the style and charm of the ‘science gone bad’ films of the 50s and 60s.
Set in the highly polluted water system of central Pennsylvania’s coal region, our hero, Matt, is a love struck junior who only has eyes and love for his “best friend” Julie. Julie is throwing all the right signals to Matt but there’s only one problem: Shane. Shane is Julie’s possessive jerk of a boyfriend, who is always gumming up the happy ending for Matt. The love triangle of tension all comes to a head at the Prom, leaving Julie running off in a tear-filled fit of anger. When she stumbles into an E.P.A. quarantined pond she finds out she’s got an even BIGGER problem. Can Matt sweep in and save the day or are Julie’s affections just too LARGE for him to handle? As you’ll find out, along with Shane, the angry mob of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and the National Guard: it was the wrong time to ruin this girl’s Prom night!
“What’s this campaign about?” you (getting more interested by the word potential contributor) query?
This campaign is to fund the production of a sequence from my script ‘Attack of the 50 Ft. Prom Queen’ for the purpose of garnering wider interest and funding with the end goal being production of the entire feature film.
“Why not ask for funding of the entire project now?” you (starting to be filled with warm fuzzy feelings about this project potential contributor) inquire?
I would never come to the indiegogo community and ask for a large sum for a feature film without proof in my hand that I can deliver the goods. This campaign is to show what my team and I can accomplish with a little bit of time and funding. I will come back to you with a product that will be fun, exciting, and polished, as well as looking like a professional film. It will show you the style and tone the feature film will take on. The money being asked for is not for paying any of the crew or cast.
The $5,000 being asked for will be going to:
- The rental fees of equipment. We need all manner of sound, light and camera equipment. This is where the majority of the money will be spent.
- Model construction. The sequence we will be shooting will show the 50 Ft. Prom queen and to do it right we will be creating detailed miniatures.
- Location Rental. We have a location but we still need to pay a small fee to the owners to use it.
This campaign is important to getting this film off the ground. Without a successful campaign the film will be shelved and set back. I need your help to show what my team and can I accomplish! With a little bit of funding we can make a GIANT film!
“Who are you, and why should you be trusted with my money?” you (wise sage of a potential contributor) question?
Great question! My name is Jonas Pachuski and I am a writer and director. I studied film and animation production at Rochester Institute of Technology’s (RIT) School of Film and Animation, where I produced an award winning short film, ‘I Shot Johnny Reb Down by the Creek Bed.’ (https://vimeo.com/27136015) While studying film I specialized in writing and directing and have written four feature films to date, one of which was a semi-finalist in the LA Comedy Festival.
I have the experience of working on a tight schedule as well as a tight budget. My film, ‘I Shot Johnny Reb Down by the Creek Bed’ was produced on a budget of $3,000 (I did not need to rent equipment due to access to RIT’s equipment resources) and was shot over a small window of four days on consecutive weekends. We had to work efficiently to get everything finished in the two weekends before the weather and leaves changed. Planning, organization, and extreme attention to detail in the pre-production phase of the project allowed my crew and I to complete the project without anything more than minor hiccups. To see how things went, check out this short documentary made by Luke Northrop, I Shot "the making of" Johnny Reb. (https://vimeo.com/35378086)
“What do I get?” you (benevolent and cherished donor) pose?
Other than the wonderful self-satisfying feeling of helping out a project you believe in I have come up with some pretty sweet perks. These perks build atop of each other the higher the donation, from being kept in the loop, access to the full feature script, and some pretty great looking t-shirts!
“This project sounds awesome, but I just don’t have the funds.”
Any donation goes a long way, no matter how small, but I also realize that times aren’t the greatest to be throwing money around. You can still help immensely by spreading the word! Throw a link of the campaign up on your news feed on facebook, let people you think would be interested know about the project, let everyone you meet know how excited you are for ‘Attack of the 50 Ft. Prom Queen!’
