Ascension, formerly known as Desiree, is a film about Greg, an uninteresting accountant who is going through a divorce. It takes place in the mediocrity of suburban America, all on the day of his father's funeral.
Unable to find solace in the sterile reality of his everyday life, the film chronicles Greg's descent into the hallucinatory.
Our deadpan style of filmmaking will explore through Greg's experience, the abject loneliness of the modern individual with no other goals than mere existence.
Desiree draws heavily on catholic mythology to discuss how one uses religion to navigate such problems in a secular culture. The film adresses these issues multilaterally, using stream of consciousness style to develop its own epistemology.
In a melding of the visual and the auditory, the films score will be provided by avant-garde composer Jonathan Evers.
We believe firmly in the idea of do-it-yourself. Rejecting the idea that a beautiful, meaningful film requires millions of dollars to make, our work is produced for a fraction of even low-budget Hollywood films. We build our own dolly systems, cruise thrift stores and websites for costumes, and collaborate constantly with fellow artists.
However, we do reguire a small budget. Paying for some things, such as equipment rentals and location fees cannot be avoided. That is where you come into play.
We need to raise at least $1,500 for various costs of this film, and we need your help. Investements from generous people like you can help make this film happen. Financial support, even on low budget films is vital, and we want to collaborate with you.
An investment of $150 will make you a Producer. Moreover, an investment of $300 or more will make you an Executive Producer. All names will appear in the credits of the film. Any investment under $100 will recieve a special thanks. All investors will recieve a copy of the film on DVD.
Art is collaborative and we need your help. Thank you very much for your consideration, and we look forward to having you on board.
