Apefoscope Anamorphic Adapter

The goal is to start building units to sell after finish coating tests.

Short Summary

I am a professional Photographer and video producer and I started working with optics in 2005 to develop a 35mm adapter called Apefos which got a perfect optical system and sold units worldwide.

Now I am developing a cost effective and high quality anamorphic adapter for dslr and small camcorders with 1.33x squeeze factor and horizontal flares.

My goal is to reach the best approach in cinema look found in more expensive anamorphic lenses.

What We Need & What You Get

I need the funds to start building units to sell, more funds means more units, and some amount will be used to keep the research and developing.

You can see the first assembled unit in the photo gallery, I will try to do black screws.

Most donation options allows a rebate and free shipping to buy the adapter when it get ready to ship.

As you can see in the personal view topic I already got donations to do the coating tests, but still need to raise funds to replicate the unit for sale.

The Impact

This adapter when available for sell will allow cine and video producers to get the anamorphic look on the cheap in full hd quality.

**Project FAQ:**

What size sensor can this adapter be used on?

It can be used in micro four thid sensor cameras with lenses of 35mm and 50mm focal lenght, In APS-C sensor cameras with lenses of 50mm focal lenght, and in small camcorders with fixed zoom lens.

Is it focusable?

Yes

What’s the closest possible focusing distance?

The adapter will be focusable from about 1 meter (three feet) to infinite. It allows a face close-up (see the video)

What material is it made out of?

It will use professional photo glass to make the lenses and photo quality lens coatings. Body will be industrial machined black hard plastic.

What’s the weight of the adapter?

It will be lightweight, the prototype is just 125 gramas.

Is there a front thread? If so what size?

The adapter will not have a front thread, if you want to use a ND filter you can fit it between the adapter and the main lens.

What size is the rear thread element?

It will have 52mm rear thread. Step-up or step-down rings can be used (as shown on video). This size was chosen because most kit lenses and 35mm and 50mm lenses have this size. And other thread size lenses can be easy converted to 52mm using step rings.
