What it's about
Amor Imposible is a romantic comedy which will double as the first part of a feature length film. In the story, Rosa, a hopeless romantic, wishes her favorite soap opera star into reality. Her roommate Memo, who secretely has feelings for her, is the person who the soap opera star, Diego, first encounters. Before Diego can go after Rosa, Memo gives him a a reality check. This in turn makes him question his very existence and makes Memo realize that he has to confess his true feelings to Rosa before its too late.
Who we are and why you should contribute
My Name is Felix Martiz, and I've had a passion for film ever since I saw The Red Balloon in my third grade class. From that point on, I began to film short films of all kinds with family and friends. Little did I know, this would be the blueprint to my Independent filmmaking career. You see, I still make films with my family and friends; the only difference is that now these friends are super talented in their fields. After film school and a succession of short films which went on to many film festivals, I made my first feature film SANTIAGO. I wrote, produced, edited and directed it myself, using the same crew I have always worked with. The entire budget for the film was under five thousand dollars. There was a lot of planning and favors asked to pull it off, but we did. The film was a success and went on to screen at over ten international film festivals, from LA to NY. In Chicago we sold out the theater, we made a hit!
While Santiago is in talks for distribution, I began to work on Amor Imposible. I wrote it as a short and immediately fell in love with the characters and the concept. The idea of a soap opera character functioning in the real world is a film I haven’t seen yet. I called my usual collaborators and everybody felt the same way: we need to make this film. This led us to Indiegogo.
Please help us realize our vision, and we promise that no matter how much money we raise, we will make this film. Amor Imposible is a fresh new take on the romantic comedy genre. In the story, the main character Memo can't tell Rosa how he feels about her, due to his insecurity issues brought on by the soap opera and character, Diego (who Rosa is obsessed with). This movie reminds us that sometimes we have to break outside of what we think we're meant to be in order to follow our dreams. Please take a look at our incentives and contribute to our project, and please tell all your friends.
Where the money is going
We have a goal of $15,000, which will go towards the budget of the film. The majority of it will be spent on the production itself. This includes things paying the cast and crew, food for the cast and crew and the rental of equipment including camera lenses, lights and microphones. The rest of the money will be for post production costs, from the editing to the sound mixing. Another big expense after its all finished is submission fees for film festivals. The more money we have left, the more festivals we can submit to, which means maximum exposure for the project you helped fund and realize. Coming from an indie/guerilla filmmaking world, believe me, I know how to stretch a dollar, and we will make an amazing movie.
