Updated Update!
Yes, I'm speaking at WCSF. After I bought my tickets (literally the day after), I was asked to speak. I said yes.
Update!
I have the funds (and extra) so I am going to WCSF. I have my ticket, and hotel. If you're going to be there and want to meet up, I'll be wearing my hat and a bright blue blazer.
For those who asked 'what are you doing with the extra?' I'm paying for better food, taxis, and possibly beer. I don't need any more money, obviously, but if you feel like you missed out, know that any extra cash is funneled into me helping WordPress. No, really. Like with computer upgrades and the like.
I'm a bit 'as you like it' person!
I'm leaving the 'Helf' up so you can see what all went before.
Helf!
Your friendly neighborhood half-elf has a ticket to WCSF but the hotel and airplane prices from Chicago are insane. On top of that ... well you know how much the economy sucks. Banks don't pay us techs much compared to the rest of you.
If you know who I am as a Half-Elf Support Rogue, then you know WordPress. I want to go to WordCamp SF, but I could use some help affording the trip. I don't have a lot to offer you as payback, but what I've got I'll give back to you.
What I Need
Let me sum up:
- $400-450 for airfare (IKR?) (purchased for $475)
- $600 ($200/night) for hotels (purchased for $545)
- $50 for food
The Impact
This is where I falter. I don't know what to tell you. Impact? What do I do? Look, you could check out the work on do on the forums, or you could consider the time I clean up the ideas forums. Or maybe I just approved your plugin and gave you a hint on how to make it better. Basically, you if you've read this far, you know me.
Maybe this would change my life and let me make that one connection with the right people to do WP support all the time for all the people. Or maybe you'd just make my weekend.
The impact is purely personal. I've never been to WCSF, I've never met Matt (kinda sorta, we met, but we didn't meet, if you know what I mean). I've never met Jane. I've never met hundreds of you whom I consider friends.
Other Ways You Can Help
