Alertly will let you know if something is going on in your home & car, enabling you to take immediate action on your mobile phone, or through the web.
Peace of mind.
Alertly is a smart alarm system, and a preventative tool - it keeps an eye on your belongings when you are not around. Alertly has more than a siren - it's been designed to scare away intruders.
Our philosophy is to put you in control. Many traditional alarm systems rely on call centers to manage the process of identifying an intrusion and contacting the police. The dirty little secret of the security industry is that it takes about 8 to 12 minutes for a intruder to break into your home, and it realistically takes 15 to 30 minutes for police to be dispatched. False alarms can cost you from seventy-five to hundreds of dollars per call. Alertly is designed to use the latest technology to help you make informed decisions about your security.
The Alertly hub seamlessly fit with your decor. For example, you can place it on a bookshelf, or on a side table.
It's the central control for the mesh sensor network in your home.
- The color LED indicators on the base let's you know what's happening around you.
- It has a durable & beautiful design.
- The hub has a battery - if the power goes out, it will continue working.
Alertly Motion Sensor & Camera Combo
The Alertly motion sensor & camera combo is easy to mount on ceilings and corners.

- It's a cordless, wireless device with a long battery life.
Alertly Key Fob
The Alertly key fob automatically arms & disarms the alarm system when you leave & return to your house and car.
- It's made of durable plastic & fits perfectly on a standard key chain.
- The fob is convenient - no need to use keypads to arm & disarm Alertly.
- It has a long lasting battery.
Alertly Contact Sensor
The contact sensor fits all your doors and windows. Let's you know if someone has entered your premises.
- It's made of strong weatherproof plastic and can easily be attached to a door & window.
- Has a long battery life. If your battery runs low, Alertly will notify you through mobile notifications, on the Alertly website dashboard or through email.
Alertly for Vehicles

Here is the t-shirt available for Alertly Fans!
In this campaign, we're providing great perks for our supporters. Check them out below:
You can monitor & control Alertly for free. We will be offering additional premium subscription services (with features such as analytics, video streaming & storage, 24hr monitoring service, ect) after our launch. We'll announce more once it's time to ship.
Our extended team of rock stars include hardware engineers, designers and data scientists.
As with any hardware product, there are risks to consider. In order to ship in Canada, the United States, and worldwide, there are certification boards (such as the FCC) that need to approve the product. There may be manufacturing or product delays for reasons beyond our control.
For our part, we promise to be transparent about the product status. We’ve made strategic decisions to reduce risk as much as possible:
We will be producing our Indiegogo devices in Canada. That way we’ll be able to oversee the manufacturing process in person & make quick decisions.
- We chose to launch with one color for our Indiegogo campaign. Launching in multiple colors has traditionally caused problems & delays for other hardware manufacturers. We will likely offer other custom colors in the future!
Frequently Asked Questions
When will I receive Alertly?
We will begin shipping Alertly to backers July 2014. In order to make sure all Indiegogo backers get their devices on time, we are working with local manufacturers so we can oversee and control the production of all Alertly devices.
How much will shipping cost?
Shipping in Canada is free of charge. International shipping (in the U.S. and internationally) may include additional costs & custom fees. The reality is that most companies that offer "free shipping" across the board include the shipping in the cost of the product. We wanted to keep the cost of Alertly devices as low as possible.
InstallationHow do I install Alertly?
Plug in the Alertly hub in the wall socket to power it on. Open your computer or laptop and connect to a WiFi hotspot called Alertly. Launch your web browser and we'll walk you through a fast and easy setup. Alertly will automatically recognize the sensors once it's powered on.
How many Alertly sensors do I need? Is there a limit?
We include enough sensors for a small house or apartment. If you have a larger home or building, you can buy the sensor pack to supplement the ones included in the pack. To estimate how many you need, account for one motion/camera sensor per room. The contact sensors can attached to doors and windows - count them to estimate how many you would need.
I have an alarm system. Does Alertly work with existing sensors?
Yes - Alertly will connect to other devices. We will announce more details next year.
Does Alertly mount to my walls?
We have two versions of Alertly - one for your vehicle, and one for your home or office. The home/office hub is a small pyramid, and is designed to sit on a flat surface like your desk, bookshelf, or side table. The vehicle hub can be attached to your sun visor, or mounted on a wall. If you want to mount the hub to your wall (to save space), get the vehicle hub instead of the home/office hub.
Do I need Wi-Fi?
The home bundle uses Wi-Fi to communicate notifications and alerts to your phone and your web dashboard. The vehicle bundle requires a SIM card and communicates over 3G or LTE.
What if the power goes out?
Alertly includes an on-board battery. If the power goes out, Alertly will continue working. You'll also be notified if Alertly goes offline for any reason at all.
What colors are available?
You can currently order Alertly in white. We chose to focus on one color in order to mitigate the risk of shipping late & to lower manufacturing costs. We will likely offer other colors in the future - let us know what colors you would prefer!
Why is Alertly shaped like a pyramid?
There are many claims in the 1960’s that pyramids contain supernatural powers. Joking aside, two of our co-founders are Egyptian and we found the shape to be interesting and compelling from a design standpoint. The triangle is said to be one of the strongest shapes in nature.
How does Alertly differ from other similar security systems?
Alertly differs from other systems in three ways: (1) it covers both your dwellings and your vehicles. Most alarm systems will only provide security coverage for a single room, or your home in it’s entirety. (2) Alertly is a smart security system that uses all available input (camera, motion sensor, and contact sensors) to automatically protect you. It is also designed to prevent break-ins, and (3), Alertly includes a developer SDK to give you free access to your data and allows you to build compelling security & home automation apps.
Can I keep an eye on my nursery, or elderly relative?
Absolutely! Simply install the camera/motion sensor in your nursery to keep an eye on your baby, or the home bundle to monitor your loved ones remotely.
What mobile phones will you support?
At launch, we'll support iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Mobile Web, and desktop Web access. If you have a device you would like supported by Alertly, send an email to email@example.com.
Can I control Alertly with multiple devices?
Yes - there's no limit. You can have all your phones, tablets, and computers all connected to Alertly.
What if I have pets?
Many monitoring systems will bring up false positives if your pet crosses a security system’s motion sensor (and they do that a lot). Alertly will recognize your pet and avoid sending you false alarms.
Do I have to pay a monthly monitoring fee?
Absolutely not - you can monitor your home for free. When Alertly is launched next year, we will offer optional subscriptions at a low cost.
What's the range of the motion sensor?
The motion sensor can detect motion at a radius of roughly 10 meters (32 feet).
What is the range between the sensors and the hub?
The range is roughly 300ft - the sensors communicate with each other using a powerful mesh network. You can learn more about mesh networking here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesh_networking
Which cellular data networks will be supported with the Alertly vehicle hub?
Our objective is to support LTE where available, and 3G otherwise.
How is Alertly powered?
We provide a wall adapter for North American users & will be testing Alertly for Europe, Africa, and Asia. Both the vehicle and home versions of Alertly include an onboard battery.
Why offer an SDK?
The inspiration for this device was based on a hack project at the TechCrunch Disrupt hackathon in San Francisco (you can view details here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPCLOddlAF8). We're hackers ourselves - we love home automation & the quantified self movement. You should have the freedom to get access to your data, and the ability to control your device the way you want to.
When will the SDK be available?
We will provide the SDK around the same time as our product ship date - July 2014.
Who will have access to the SDK?
We'll give priority access to the SDK to the backers who have purchased the Alertly Developer Bundle & they will be included in our beta. Other backers will get access to the SDK & the developer platform at a later date.
What will you be able to do with the SDK?
You'll be able to programmatically pull data from the sensors, control the sensors, write your own mobile & web apps - the possibilities are endless.
What about security? Won't hackers be able to access my device using the SDK?
Security is of course the topmost concern with an alarm system. The key is finding the right balance between flexibility & security. One of the goals of the beta developer program is to get your feedback on how you would like to access your Alertly devices.
Can I host my own Alertly backend?
Our top priority is to build a solid product, with a secure backend cloud service. We will offer an API and you'll also get access to your videos through online storage services.
Security & Privacy
What if I want privacy, or want turn everything off?
You have full control over Alertly. If you want to shut down any or all the sensors in your home or vehicle, you can do so at the touch of a button. All the video content collected by Alertly is encrypted, private, and only accessible to you.
What if someone steals my Alertly devices?
All of Alertly’s information (including videos and sensor data) is stored in the cloud. Even if someone steals your devices, you still have access to valuable information you can pass along to the authorities to catch the thieves. Alertly will also analyze before and after images in your home to help you identify what was stolen and assist with filling out insurance claims. The Portable version of Alertly has a GPS unit - if a thief turns on the alarm system, they will send out a set of GPS coordinates you can pass along to the police.
How secure is Alertly?
We use the latest security protocols & encryption to keep your data safe. Before shipping Alertly, the hardware and software will undergo penetration testing to make sure we have a secure product by default.
What if I see someone is breaking into my house?
If the cameras and sensors show that someone is in your house, it’s important not to take matters in your own hands and contact the authorities. Alertly’s apps include a 9-1-1 button to quickly reach out to the police.
How does Alertly deter break-ins?
Alertly comes with stickers you can put on your doors or windows. If you attach one of our cameras visibly near your front door, it will in some cases deter burglars from breaking in. You can also make Alertly bark like a guard dog (for example, a Doberman Pinscher) if the motion sensor is triggered or through our mobile apps. As you can imagine, intruders don’t like aggressive guard dogs.If you have any other questions - feel free to reach us on Twitter (@getalertly) or by email (firstname.lastname@example.org)
