A Hawaiian Christmas

A family-oriented Christmas Holiday TV music special that showcases artists from Hawaii singing about the reason for the season.

My Story

Aloha! My name is Kenneth Makuakane, a native Hawaiian music artist, record producer, author, promoter, but most of all a dreamer that the power of music always heals and lifts the spirit of humanity.  I have been in the music industry in Hawaii for awhile, successfully producing my own groupʻsʻ CDs, then turning my attention to helping other artists fulfill that same dream.

I decided to turn my energy to television and have produced a Christmas Holiday Music Special for TV that includes some of the islandʻs beloved artists.  The Christmas music we chose is about the birth of Christ, the reason for the season, along with themes of family and loved ones.  Too often I see violence and sex on the TV, not a good recipe for family values to be nurtured from.  I believe that instead of constantly trying to change the laws of the land, I wanted to create something that would change morality.  Instead of just speaking rhetoric about what we need to do, I am taking the step forward to say that I believe in the goodness of an individual, who needs to know that there is hope in the world and it begins with me.

With your kokua (help), we can begin to make the world a better place, one person at a time.  We can look at a glass as either half full or half empty, to see that every personʻs life is worth the effort.  Incidentally, this one hour Christmas Special has been picked up by NBC TV and will be aired NATIONALLY on December 25, 2012.  The station was looking for more family-oriented content, saw my show, and immediately said that this is worth showing.  I hope you feel the same way.  Mahalo!

What I Need & What You Get

I need at least $19,000 to pay videographers who invested their time, the sound company, the makeup artist, the other people who gave of their time on spec, and the rest of the money for the editing process.  NBC TV is requiring the show to fit their specific television format, so we are editing with that purpose in mind.  Please remember, this show is already slated to be broadcast on December 25, 2012, so I need to have the editor finish working on the final show by December 3, 2012.

I will be creating a not-for-commercial-sale DVD of “A Hawaiian Christmas” that will only go to those who invest in this project.  At the $1000 level, you will be credited as a co-producer of the program and will have your name on the credits.  You will also receive (20) DVDs of the program which shows your name as co-producer.  For your gift of $100 or more, I will send you (10) copies of this limited run DVD by December 15, 2012.  For those who want to invest as believers, I will send you a copy of the DVD.

If, for some reason, I do not reach my goal, I will use whatever funds were collected to pay for my expenses, but I will still honor my commitment to send a copy of the DVD to you by December 15, 2012.

The Impact

I am not going to give you the sad, sob story of the state of affairs of our country and the world.  However, I am going to tell you that BELIEF is such a powerful word.  I believe in humanity; I believe in the power of prayer; I believe in God; I believe in the moral values of remembering my ancestors, respecting my parents, loving my family, and helping my neighbors; I believe that one person CAN make a difference; I believe that I cannot change yesterday, neither can I worry about the mysteries of tomorrow, therefore I have only today to do something; and I believe that you have most, if not all, of these beliefs too.

I am not new to concieving, formulating, developing, implementing, and completing any and every project I have ever done.  I have already shot the Christmas show and secured NBC TV to broadcast it nationwide on Christmas Day 2012.  I am so confident of this programʻs impact on our nation, especially during the holiday season.

I have produced hundreds of music CDs, promoted concerts statewide, done many TV productions, played my original music before crowds of over 75,000 people.  I CAN make a difference.  And YOU CAN make a difference in peopleʻs lives too.  I truly need your help to take the positive message of HOPE to our nation.

Other Ways You Can Help

I know that some of you cannot help monetarily for one reason or the other.  However, you can help by sending this link to people you know would love to help fund this worthy project.  You can also get the word out in your state that “A Hawaiian Christmas” is going to be aired on NBC on December 25th, so tune in.  You can also help by using the Indiegogo share tools pass the word around.  Thank you very much.
