ΣΦΕ 6th Annual Summit-Up
On behalf of Sigma Phi Epsilon and the NC Kappa chapter we are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting our 6th annual “Summit Up” fundraising event this upcoming spring. Summit Up, without a doubt, is our largest philanthropy event of the year and is one that is of extreme personal value to the brotherhood and community of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Tom Bolick, a beloved brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon, lost his battle with cancer July 1, 2006. He was diagnosed with brain cancer while in his 1st semester here at East Carolina University, and passed away at the young age of 20 years old. Tom was a joyful young man, known for his constant smile and his friendship with so many others throughout the pirate community. In April 2006, our fraternity came together and collectively started Summit Up, an annual fundraiser in Tom’s memory.
All proceeds from this event are donated to the American Brain Tumor Association (www.abta.org). The ABTA’s primary goal is to provide critical funding to researchers working toward breakthroughs in brain tumor diagnosis, treatment and care, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure. In total our chapter has raised over $15,000 for the ABTA including raising $7000 alone from the last Summit Up. This year we are looking to raise the bar even higher, seeking support from friends, family, and the community of Greenville to come support a Greek event that will genuinely make a difference in many people’s lives.
On the Fourth Saturday of April 2013 (4-27-2013), we will be hosting our 6th annual Summit-Up. This all day event will consist of several live bands (Love Tribe & Dubtown Cosmonauts), Catered food from local sponsors, and hundreds of people coming out to support Tom and the ABTA. Tickets will be sold to Greek organizations in the weeks leading up to the event for $7 and at the door for $10.
