This Armed Forces Day, May 21, we will hold the 3rd annual Marines Helping Marines Fishing Tournament at the Anchor Marina in North East, Maryland. Each year we strive to provide a fun filled weekend for approximately a dozen or more severely wounded veterans and their families.
Veterans are paired up with professional anglers who will teach them the ropes of bass fishing. Together the two will perform as a team against other anglers. The tournament is open to the public. After the tournament concludes, a barbeque will be held for all and proceeds from the day will be given to the Marines Helping Marines foundation.
These heroes are confined to the hospital for rehabilitation. Many of them cannot go home as they do not live close to the area. Through donations we are able to allow them and their families to leave the area for a weekend, meet new friends, engage in the community, and learn a little about bass fishing.
What We Need & What You Get
We need to provide each servicemember with the proper fishing equipment to compete in this tournament. Fishing companies do donate product, however that is not always enough. We also need to pay for hotel rooms for each servicmemember and their families. Your donations will also help pay for event t-shirts and coins, food, travel expenses, entertainment, and advertising for the event.
Other Ways You Can Help
Besides making a small donation you can help spread the word about this great event. Please share the links with your friends and family.
