This will hopefully be the last update for this campaign. By now, everyone should have received their reward, unless you are waiting for a post card. Those are going out this week. I have no idea when they will arrive, but hopefully within a couple of weeks. If you selected a personalized camel drawing, but did not yet receive it, send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org . Once again, huge thanks to all for making this campaign a success!
Apologies if you have received more than one email from me today.
The video is done!!!! Feel free to share it.
Version 1 (shorter, does not include shout-outs) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73OY8NO2uyg
Version 2 (with video shout-outs)
The rest of the rewards are on the way.
Once again, huge thanks for making this possible!!
100 camels drawn with 100 different people in Bamako in a 24 hour period of time.
I am currently working on the video documenting the mission. I am very excited with how it is turning out so far. You are going to see 100 people posing with their drawing, but you will also see scenes from around Bamako. In 24 hours, I went to 3 concerts, saw a music/dance/theater performance put on by a house of former street kids, walked through countless neighborhoods, and drew camels with market women, musicians, taxi drivers, nomads, and too many children.
The video will be completed by Thursday at the latest. Apologies for going beyond my intended timeframe, but I think the result will be worth it.
Personalized camel drawing perks will all be sent by the end of the week. Post cards will go out next week, but I am not sure when they will arrive at your house (I will take a photo of the post card and email it you before I send it off). Video shout outs… will be in the video.
THANKS AGAIN FOR MAKING THIS HAPPEN!
Enormous thanks to everyone that has supported and shared this campaign!! We surpassed the goal of $1,000 and I will be teaching 100 people how to draw camels in Bamako in a 24hr period. Originally, I planned to do the camel drawing mission this past weekend, but because of Tabaski (Eid al-Adha), I am doing it this weekend instead. Some special guests will be featured, including notable musicians from northern Mali. The camel drawing and postcard perks will be going out next week. In the meantime, I am heading to Kita, where I will hopefully draw on the power of Mali’s nyamakala (sculptors of the universe) to prepare for this mission. I will be in touch over the weekend.
