Synopsis: Filmed over twenty months in San Quentin and the surrounding Counties, we follow several men transforming themselves and their community, as well as, individuals and agencies supporting that effort, through The Trust.

Founded by Dr. Garry Mendez, Jr., The Trust provides tools for reinforcing or sometimes even instilling culturally infused values, teaching leadership skills and restoring a sense of responsibility for the state of their community. By engaging and empowering these men as resources The Trust strengthens the effort toward positive transformation and begins to end the cycles that brought the men to San Quentin. The Trust provides the tools; the men do the work.

It is in this spirit the project was forged, allowing an opportunity for the men of the Trust to tell their own story. By involving inmate filmmakers, the spirit of empowerment will be engaged and interwoven throughout the story.

SQPC Public Safety Campaign

This is the first in a series created by the San Quentin Production Company, started by Troy Willams, Christopher Shurn, Marvin Williams, Tulio Cordozo, Buckshot Maples, and Kenny Stallings in 2007. SQPC's mission is to bring voice to incarcerated men who want to uplift and support their communities through positive voices, images, and actions. SQPC's work introduces options and positive alternative to the youth and young men & women who are looking up to them for guidance.

These funds will be used to finish the trailer, and cover permit and insurance costs. It will also cover the equipment needed to begin filming inside San Quentin, and cover initial payroll expenses. Every contribution counts!
