ABOUT THE PROJECT
Who we are
Pornsaints is an artistic approach to porn, a pornographic approach to art, a pornoartistic approach to religion. Its mission is to reinterpret pornography through the languages of contemporary arts.
It was born as an international collective of artists who portray porn stars as saints. Artworks are based upon the idea that porn stars may be "sanctified" by their performances. Founded by Francesco D'Isa in early 2007, Pornsaints is based in Firenze/Berlin, and made up of artists from around the world, working in an array of mediums ranging from digital video to oil and canvas. Pornsaints has held many exhibitions through art galleries and porn-related venues worldwide:

Moreover, our web community, www.pornsaints.org, the "Pornsaints Church" is one of the first and bigger websites about art and pornography, with hundreds of daily visitors.
As D'Isa wrote in the essay "Pornsaints - a brief essay about pornography and transcendence", the definition of a Pornsaint is inspired by many religious concepts and beliefs. It is closer to mystical and far-eastern definitions (Taoism most of all) than to those of Christianity. If God is the most unreachable concept, the saint, being closer to God, renounces human features and identity. A cool separation from the world, like an extreme behaviour, is one way to overstep humanity. As he wrote in the essay, "...the pornsaint dwells in the house of the saints, but got there travelling a different way, and came in knocking at another door."
So, if the saint obtained the absolute by clambering up on God (any God), the pornsaint obtained it climbing over man. His way does not go through renouncing the world of man in favour of the world of God, but through the utmost simultaneous participation in opposite aspects of the human world.
Our Film, "Porno Totale".
To completely achieve our study of pornography through the lens of art, we want to do a short movie. It will be NOT a porn or erotic movie, but a visual allegory of the idea of "porn-sanctity". Our main character will be a cam girl, and we will tell you her story with a journey inside her mind, showing the hard path that leads to porn-sanctiy, through dreams, nightmares and enlightenments. We'll show only her mind undressed.
It will be a porn movie?
It's important to underline again that our movie will be not a pornographic or an erotic movie. It will be not a documentary about the industry of pornography as well. There are already a lot of interesting movies about the bad and the good sides of "the Industry", presenting a wide range of point of views. Of course we respect Sex Workers and their rights, and there are a lot of interesting and important stories to tell about them - but for the time being this is not our mission, and we will be "neutral" regarding Pornography. Our interest and our aim is to portray and "undress" the mind of a sex worker, and to explain through a short movie the idea of "Pornsaint".
Meet the Team
Project founders, directors and producers are Lorenzo Bechi and Francesco D'Isa. Francesco D'Isa is an Italian artist, art curator and comic maker. He studied Philosophy in Florence, Italy. He's a pioneer of digital art in Italy, but his skills as a drawer let him work with traditional media as well. His digital and traditional artworks were featured in many magazines around the world and he has exhibited internationally. His theory and practice has been extended as a Workshop Leader and Lecturer in Multimedia. In 2007 he became "Pornpope" founding the porn-artistic collective Pornsaints. Lorenzo Bechi is an Italian director, he studied Psychology in Florence, Italy. Then he co-founded the furnitures brand "Inside Home Interiors" and founded the fashion line "bigfatfanny", featured at the fashion fairs "Pitti Immagine 2010", Milano fashion week "Mi Milano pret -a- porter" and "The Brandery", Barcelona. Then he studied at the Cinema School "Immagina", in Florence, Italy.
Pornsaints crew: Donatella Santarelli, actress, Gregorio Magini, writer and co-founder of the SIC (Scrittura Industriale Collettiva) project, Vanni Santoni, writer and co-founder of the SIC, Matteo Salimbeni, playwright, Andrea Giancarli, director of photography.
How We Plan to Use These Funds
Most of the major cast and crew members will work on expenses only or deferments. We will publish a statement of accounts at the end of the production.
The funds collected here will be used to pay for
Pre-production (Preparation)
Shooting
and Editing
All that you'll see on the screen will be paid for by you:
Cameras and lenses rental, location rentals, wages for actors, electricians, lighting crew, graphics, promoters, costumes, set props, make-up & hair, day-to-day shooting expenses, transport, editing expenses.
At the end of this we would have a film that can be shown to selectors and other gatekeepers of the professional film industry.
Our Timeline
Once we'll get the funds, we'll need 1 month for the pre-production, 1 month for shooting, 1.5 months for editing and packaging. Then the movie will be ready for festivals and contests!
