My new film is about God, The Devil, and lots and lots of bad guys says William Lee as he begins to talk about his upcoming project, Architect of Chaos. But dont get excited fans, William Lee hasnt gone off course and this film is an action packed thriller with a message like all the other Cinema Lexzikon movies. This time, Lees message has a decidedly spiritual bent to it. But, why the change? Why would a filmmaker whose films are regularly cited for action and hard hitting drama go to A decidedly spiritual work" for, excuse the pun, Inspiration? What is the plot line of this flick? Lee says simply: God runs out of patience and sends a self proclaimed "messenger" to kick some butt" "The basic question" says Lee, is "whether this messenger is telling the truth. Is he really sent by God? Or is he an instrument of evil. AN impostor sent to fool everyone in to believing his cause is a noble one". In the first drafts of Lee's script, he made a decision to make the "messenger" Jesus, but he has made some radical changes. "After some discussion with our production team, we decided it was too easy to call the character Jesus, and let him have at it. The problem is, Jesus is a figure that drew so much heat from people who misinterpreted our aim, we decided to pull back. Now, the "messenger" is never really identified until the very end, and even then, the audience is left wondering who this stranger is. "Makes for a better mystery, and allows us to make our point without beating people over the head with a particular view point. Too many people assumed we were defaming the name of Jesus, so we rethought the idea. It is amazing how touchy people can be even when you are trying to enhance the image of this man." Outside of the obvious controversy, Lee has found that black film making has come to a complete halt in terms of creativity. The era of hood/ghetto/gangsta films seems to keep hanging on, with the same tired plots and imagery. Lee has found it IMPOSSIBLE to find funding because he steers clear of typical material. "Black distributors think my films are not black enough." As Lee says, "Not enough "ghetto", i.e. the rap star shooting his way out of "the game" or "social drama" about cheating spouses" But Lee also finds he is a contradiction as white distributors find his films "too socially conscious for white audiences". That is, expectations for black film are simple action, revenge or exploitation. Lee doesn't fit either category, and thus, the lack of major interest on both sides of the distribution coin. Until his first major release CODE BLACK, in 2007, Lee had been virtually unknown. His films languished in obscure film fests,Midwestern film premieres, and on-line sites like Indieflix.com. Never quirky enough to interest Sundance, too action filled to be praised in major refined film circles, never peopled by major or even sub-major stars, financed totally from Lees various day jobs, he has spent every year since 1974 chasing that dream. The dream that one day he could be seen for what he is. Not a black filmmaker, but a filmmaker who makes non stereotypical, well written action films with a message. Nothing more, nothing less. And if you think its a faith based film, forget it. Lee says that it will be his highest energy action film to date. Theres an evil madman , secret experimental paranormal warriors, a bus driver from the next dimension, a Mafia don, and the two leads: An Irish ex- military type whose family has been killed by the mob, and a female Doctor who kills Elephant poachers and seal cub killers in her spare time. This "messenger from God" even battles in several Kurosawa inspired sword fights with nefarious beings from hell. Okay. Time out. Samurai sword fights for a messenger from God? Why would God send someone to do his work? Viewers will have to do some serious thinking to sort this one out, but in the end, good battles evil just like Lee's other action projects. Only this time it's not as black and white as it seems. What happens if our main character turns out to be an instrument of evil? The interpretation is left to the viewer. Controversy? You bet your lunch money. What else is new for William Lee? After all, when a Zen Buddhist makes a film about the machinations of the Creator of the universe, you know its going to be something special.

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATIONS;

Phase one of our campaign enabled us to get the ball rolling, but we fell far short of the needed goal to complete the full production. This phase will get us closer to achieving full funding for ARCHITECT OF CHAOS.

This is the second phase of  fund raising for the film. This phase is specifically for the production of a mini-feature also known as a teaser trailer. All funds go to feeding and lodging cast and crew for this exciting project.. The finished product will be used as a spec film or demo for distributors and other investors.

Tentative shoot dates are April 29-30 in Lebanon, Kentucky.  Our thanks go out to the city of Lebanon which has opened it's arms and doors to our production company.
