PAYNE & REDEMPTION - THE INDEPENDENT FILM
Written, Directed and Produced by
FERGLE GIBSON
Payne
& Redemption is a highly-anticipated British-made film that I
wrote, directed and produced. It was recently accepted by IMDB, and is supported by Sam Lake, writer of
the popular Max Payne videogames, and has attracted over eighty-four-million fans worldwide during the course of its production.

Payne & Redemption seems very ambitious and impressive.
Good luck with your project! Looking forward to seeing it.
 Sam Lake
The
story of the film surrounds the psychological trauma endured by the films main
character, a weathered New York Detective, and his journey to seek
redemption, after having to deal with a long line of traumatic incidents
that have occurred in his recent life.
The project
I
began writing the script in 2004, then over the next one and a half
years, managed to amass a crew of over 20 industry professionals
(including John Attwood, who had recently completed work on Casino
Royale). I shot the end portion of the film in October of 2006 with Director of
Photography Piers Leigh, using the prototype, then revolutionary, Arriflex D-20
digital motion picture camera, which was entrusted to us by Arri Media, and its first outing on an independent film. Although a fantastic camera at the time, our only choice for capturing the footage, was to record to HDCAM SR tape, a professional based media format that requires a 50,000 tape deck in order to read the data.
Picking up the pieces
Shortly
after production wrapped, I ran out of available funds, and wasnt able to afford to have the RAW 1080p data from the HDCAM SR tapes transferred to a more practical storage solution for editing on a PC or Mac. As a result, all trailers for the film had to be edited from the film's heavily compressed, standard definition reference DVDs, and the remainder of the film's production has been on hold for the last 5 years, as we haven't been able to work with the source footage.
What this campaign is for
This particular campaign is to raise the funds for having the HDCAM SR tapes professionally transferred to hard-drive by Stanley's, a well-known post house in London, so that I, for the first time, can gain access to the original, RAW,
high-definition footage, and finally move this project one step further towards the light.
After the tapes have been transferred, I will re-edit, re-mix and publicly re-release the existing trailers for Payne & Redemption, in 1080p, and re-construct the film's end sequence, so that I can ascertain and prioritize what pick-up shots and scenes need to be filmed to complete that portion of the film, then use that to support the architecture of the rest of the production.
How your contributions will be used
Every penny donated to this campaign will go towards the transfer costs
of the HDCAM SR tapes, as well as the hard-drives needed to store the
transferred footage, which are also supplied by Stanley's. Plus, if they
allow me, I'm going to take photos of the entire process to share with
you guys once the transfer is complete.
If the goal isn't reached
If we do not reach the goal this time around, the donations we do receive will be placed into a Savings Account that I have set up especially for Payne & Redemption, and reserved for when we can afford to have the footage transferred.
Please bear in mind that if donating via PayPal, PayPal will deduct 3.4% + 20p from your contribution upon my receipt. If we do indeed reach our fundraising goal, IndieGoGo will charge me a 4% fee on the funds raised, and a 9% fee if we don't.
What YOU get for your generosity
- $10 - Your name or website featured on payneandredemption.com and on the credits of the film under "Special Thanks".
- $20 - As above, and a personalized autograph from the Cast and Director.
- $50 - As above, and a professional, high-definition glossy print of an awesome frame belonging to the footage from the HDCAM SR tapes.
- $100 - As above, and a first-look at the new, high-definition trailers cut from the footage you've helped transfer, with exclusive commentary from the Director and other crew / cast members about the making of the film, which will not be made available anywhere else.
Thanks for your patience and loyality, guys.
